“Jota Manileña” is a dance influenced by the Spanish and its name after the capital city of the Philippines, Manila. The Jota Manileña is a Filipino adaption of the Castilian Jota. It is a dance where in a use of a pair bamboo castanets being hold and clacking it with their both hands by the dancers themselves. The music and the dancers movements are synchronized with the clacking sound of the castanets. The costume of the dancers and their movements were all inspired by the Spanish culture.
