This is a great tribute to Chris, I'm sure he would have loved Julien's soul, her authenticity, and her completeness in her individuality. Not to mention, her musical and lyrical skills.
Same here! For me, this applies to basically every cover she's done so far like this one, Accident Prone, Photobooth, Ballad of Big Nothing, etc. Is it weird that even though I've listened to all of the original songs afterwards, I prefer Julien's versions so much more? There is something about the way she changes those songs to fit them into her own style and thus to truly make them her own, if that makes any sense at all.
Sebastian Schuberth Same! The Photobooth cover was actually how I discovered as my dad and I both like Death Cab...but I have to say I love her version more than the original! I really love the Ballad of Big Nothing cover as well even though I'm not that keen on Elliott Smith, haha. (Basically I just love everything she's done ever 😂)
Me too! (didn't want to write "Same!" again, haha :D) Currently I'm delving into The Star Killers/Forrister and I'm digging it so far. You can see a lot of parallels to her solo stuff there, especially the last track from their album "Epilogue" has this "Vessels" vibe to me. Can't wait to see what she's going to cover next! 😊
Sebastian Schuberth 😂 And yes!! I downloaded the Star Killers album ages ago and some of the songs on there are really good. Epilogue is actually one of my favourites as well as Dallas and Call it Quits
Ohh, so "The Deaf Institute" is what the bar _used_ to be.... (Just looked that up, so now it's a comment.) Thanks so much for recording and uploading!

Serenity defined by sound.
I first fell in love this cover at her show in Munich last week and unfortunately couldn't find it on YT, so thanks a ton for uploading it now!
Sebastian Schuberth you're welcome! I'd never actually heard the original song before this but I loved it too 😊

Best audioslave cover hands down ever
