When I was a youngster in the 50s, I watched mostly Roy Rogers (naturally) and Hop-a-Long, and many others, but somehow, I missed The Durango Kid? I have to say, he & Smiley would'a been tops back then. I love the way they sing great cowboy songs, don't drag out the fisticuffs, and the Kid ain't afraid to kill a bad guy now & then. Besides, I spent 12yrs working undercover narcotics, and I enjoy how Starrett is usually an undercover fed agent.
Emmett Lynn, the 'prospector' has a pathetically weak wiki page, which does not reflect the many roles he played~ including ANY of the several "Durango" films he was a co-star in. Great pity!

What a good movie.
Love those old black and white movies from 1930 1940s. Smiley is versatile and makes me laugh. Great actor. 😅😂
