Rain in Seattle in June isn't that uncommon. Actually the west side of the state is the "wet" side. The name of that town is pronounced SEEdro Woolley. We actually have a lot of places here that are difficult to pronounce. It's how we spot "outsiders" LOL. I was surprised that you encountered so much rain and even snow on the east side of the state. Usually by June it is dry and hot there. Funny you went through the town of Republic. I have a relative that lives there and a high school friend that lives in Winthrop. Enjoying your video a lot. On to part two!

I first rode cross country in 1982. The technology has changed how we tour; GPS, Cell Phones, Google Maps, ATM machines, etc. We had none of that back then. We used paper maps we got free from the CHP offices. Equipment is better too. The only thing that hasn't changed is that it is still fun.

Inspired by your and other bicycling tourists' videos of late, I rode 47 miles yesterday to gauge my fitness level for a SF -> LA tour. I'd say the first 35 went well, "butt" I am reconsidering my Brooks B17 saddle for long rides without the use of proper cycling shorts. Cheers!

It is more fixable and waterproof. I find it more comfortable than the B17. I wear Club Ride (brand) liners under my shorts. I find them to be a must for comfort. Safe Travels.

To answer your question, I designed the trip using several Adventure Cycling Association routes. We started in Seattle and rode north to the town of Sedro Wooley where we picked up the Northern Tier. We rode that to Whitefish, Montana. From there we took the ACA Great Parks route south to Missoula, Montana. In Missoula, we took section 4 of the ACA TransAmerica route to West Yellowstone. From there we rode the ACA Parks, Peaks and Prairies route to Minneapolis, Minnesota. Then we used our own route across Wisconsin to Manitowoc, Wisconsin and caught the SS Badger Ferry across Lake Michigan to Ludington, Michigan. Once in Michigan we rode the ACA Lake Erie Connector into and across Ontario, Canada. Once we got to Buffalo, New York we rode the Erie Canal Trail for 360 miles to Albany, New York. We finished the tour making our own route across Massachusetts to the JFK Library in Boston. Please let me know if you have other questions.

@@kevinansel8034 Thank you very much for this very helpful information, Kevin - much appreciated! My trip this summer ran into some problems, so I'll have to wait till summer 2024 to travel to So. Korea to ride their Four Rivers Ride. Knowing how much you folks bike tour, I'd bet you've heard of it. It's a 633km bike ride that roughly follows the path of 4 rivers from Incheon in the northwest to Busan in the southeast of the country. My summer vacation coincides with monsoon season during which So. Korea receives 60% of its annual rainfall(!); hence, my question about waterproof pants. 🙂 I've purchased everything else I need for this ride as well as for the SF-LA ride I hope to do this summer, or at least LA-SD and/or SB-LA! Amazing! How many miles are you averaging per day? I'd love to do something like this with my wife on our recumbent tricycles. Our biggest challenge, besides staying warm and dry, would be making sure we could recharge our electrical systems at the end of each day. We have only 10 gears, thus there is no way we could climb mountains without our e-assist system. Very fun!
