melissa please don't ever let anyone tell you your ideas for mounting orchids are not good and purchasing them!, they are fantastic, not only do they look great but the orchids look happy as heck. and i haven't seen, not one of your mounting ideas look bad or stupid or anything like that. you share so much great information, ideas, and you also share pricing. not everyone can afford to buy a $50 orchid and hope that it lives or a $75 orchid. you can get the same enjoyment and beauty on a budget and i love that about you!! thank you for inspiring people who want to enjoy this hobby, but live on a budget, that they too can enjoy it. awesome!
Hi there Melissa a good idea for stopping the leaves blowing in is to put up a piece of 50% shade cloth on the side where the tree is , also the common name here in Australia for your dendrobium noble is a soft cane dendrobium and don't be disappointed with the flowers on your dendrobium as the plant is adjusting to your climate where you grow them and will drop the flowers quickly but the next flowering will be worth waiting for thank you for your videos Mitch from Australia.
awwweee, don't be unhappy with your den. its a beautiful den. with the care you give your orchids she will most definitely reward you next growing season. i would buy another one to mount with it, so she puts on a show next spring! but i love the idea you have going on with those cute little phals. and their patterns and colors are outstanding. i personally think they are just as beautiful as cattleyas.
I wonder if it would help to move your shelves up against your wall to use it as a wind break? One thing I do to keep pots from getting blown over is to create a little barrier by wrapping a piece of wire or green Velcro all the way around the 4 sides of the shelves, so it stops them from falling off the shelf, kind of like a baby crib. And Mitch’s shade cloth suggestion is good - helps for leaves, and also to protect from hail.
I can't believe you got dendrobium for $4! That's awesome. I just got den love memory fizz for $40. It's loaded with blooms, though, so it's probably fair. Your antler dendrobium and the yellow one beside it are gorgeous! Is the yellow with the reddish center no id?
wow 45 for the ansomum. Completely normal about the flowers. Any change to its environment and it will sulk, it is fussy but if you just leave it in a sunny spot and forget about it it should do well lol. It is kind of a must have for a serious collector but it literally might be 2 years before it flowers for you again and it will need to be repotted at the right time. The phals for 5 dollars were a steal, very nice. If you compare the two yep the cheap phals are great. Nothing wrong with either choice but the anosmum is a connoisseurs addition for sure.
Thanks Tom! I guess I just expected for them to last what she told me they should last. She 15 to 20 days and it was actually two. But I’m not unhappy. 😬
Beautiful blooms. Wise and great shopping. When you repot the phals when do you water them. I am in south Florida dominoes ted an idea. I am not lucky with phals at all. Thanks and happy get.❤
Good heavens 😳 I think mother nature is testing us🎉🎉we had strong winds, hael ,thunderstorms 😮😮😮crazy weather . I feel your pain when you find your plants on the floor, pots in pieces 😢😢but it does inspire us to seek other avenues to keep our orchids safe. I love all your ideas. Love all your bargen buys!! I wish we had places like that here where I can buy orchids that's on sale. Here ,you do get but still costly even when marked down....but I close one eye and swipe my card😂😂😂😂I'm starting to get a bit picky on what I I buy cos I'm running out of space. Do now I have a wishlist. I would love to own a catacetum, but they are super expensive here, and I'm poop scared I'm going to kill it. I'm hoping it will go on sale and buy one to try🎉. We have a orchid show this weekend but looking forward to the mothersday orchid show, it is about an hour away from where I stay but there's Always Bargens at thst show.its at a orchid judges farm and there will be other vendors, super excited 🎉🎉❤ happy growing , thanks again for sharing ❤happy growing 😀
Hey Jeanie! I hope you get your catecetum. I don’t have any of those either. Same reason. I’m not quite sure about the dormancy period situation. lol. I hope you film the orchid show. I’d be interested in seeing that. I just got one that’s been on my list since the beginning! Have fun!
@Melissa-loves-orchids the care of catacetums are tricky, I've heard, but I will read up on it. I'll probably forget when to feed and when to stop watering 😆 🤣 lol. I'll have to make a sign for that period: Don't water!! Lol 😆 🤣 or Feed me 😂😂😂I'm almost done doing all my chores, then I'll take a walk in the garden. I've been dredging it cos we had a huge hael storm last night and strong winds, been procrastinating. ( poop scared of what I'll find.) Anyways, I've talked your ear off, I'm sure. Enjoy the rest of your week

Buy a blower makes things easier. And the tree is awesome due to the shade and breeze that ur orchids love.
That’s true bc I thought the shade will change if we remove that tree.
🎉🎉🎉🎉you’re awesome
Thank you!!
Beautiful! How is it that they even get thrift? You should do a video about the different types of insects that are hazardous to plant/flower
The evil thrips will come in from anywhere when it’s been raining.
