If the Ness CPU were to grab the ledge or even go near the ledge, they would've been wide open to the taunt. An airdodge was the only possible outcome that wouldn't have killed the CPU. However, the AI airdodges are programmed to act like Brawl airdodges rather than PM airdodges, which explains why the Ness made no input to get onto to the stage without grabbing the ledge. Now do you know why the Ness airdodged instead of grabbed the ledge? Good.
