    My chemisty teacher said that if one of us could memorize this in one week (full speed) he would give us an automatic A. THANK YOU BECAUSE I DID IT.

    Classic. I remember my chemistry teacher challenging the class to try and SING this, and if anyone successfully did so they would automatically get an A and not have to show up to class 🤣

      lol, my teacher did as well and I actually ended up doing it. In fact, it did it for my school talent show when I was in jr high. even got a standing ovation, it was very surreal. If memory serves me correctly, the teacher gave me the A. I can still sing it to this day.

      It's very much addicting. For me since 1968 when I was 10. I'm now 65 and it still helps me keep my brain sharp.

      Flerovium was Ununquadium
      Moscovium was Ununpentium
      Livermorium was Ununhexium

    Those are the ones moved to the bottom for more space; look closely because after 56 is 72. 57 is continued at the first element of the top collum. After 88 is 104, as 89 is continued at the first element of the bottom collom. The 30 elements at the bottom were moved to save space.

      This song was written before lawrencium was discovered. The remaining 29, in order of appearance on this song, are: neodymium, neptunium, americium, uranium, europium, lutetium, lanthanum, protactinium, thorium, thulium, ytterbium, actinium, gadolinium, samarium, holmium, erbium, terbium, dysprosium, cerium, praseodymium, plutonium, promethium, curium, californium, fermium, berkelium, mendelevium, einsteinium, and nobelium.

    I love Tom Lehrer. i had actually forgotten about this song till i watched an episode of NCIS where the song was played. i love it.

    The creator of this video was clever enough not to incorporate elements that hadn't been named (confimed) yet. The existence of these four elements wasn't recognised widely until after the creation of this video.

    When I was in school, it seemed to be established that element 105 was Hahnium- why did they change their mind and call it Dubnium?

    One thing I can't figure out is why the animator inserted a picture of Saturn over the word "uranium." This element, of course, got its name from the planet Uranus, which the animator should have used there instead.

    On _NCIS,_ Abby Sciuto played this song and gleaned clues to a plot, from the atomic numbers in it. The script writers never acknowledged Lehrer. Sounds to me like he had grounds to sue.

    there are 118 discovered elements. however, there are only like 115 elements that have permanent names. 116 became LIVERMORIUM and 114 became FLEROVIUM. the unun- series is temporary
