The problem with people who can’t handle criticism is the fact that they don’t see it as criticism they see it as insulting them And that usually turns into a mentality of thinking everyone’s out to get them when In reality. If you put yourself on the Internet, people are going to critique you you just gotta learn to roll with the punches
I remember when I had that outlook in middle and high school. I had it because I had zero self esteem and thought me being right about something was all I had. I cringe thinking about it. This poor kid has no confidence. He’s got the bravery to put himself out there but not the confidence and charisma to go with it. It was only when I realized it’s okay to be wrong sometimes (something that just happened with maturity) that I grew up and could let go. I still don’t consider myself confident in any way and still have self esteem issues, but now whenever I’m shown to be wrong or criticized I don’t lash out. I still don’t deal with it in a healthy way. I deal with it by preempting criticism by calling out all the things I did wrong ahead of time with self deprecation. I also just don’t put myself out there. Basically, dude needs to work on himself.
@@ferretyluv yeah and sometimes, the criticism you receive back from some people isn’t even helpful and just a way for them to be mean, THAT is when you ignore those people’s and their words. But the general thing is: it’s okay to be wrong and if people genuinely want to ruin your day for no reason other than to be mean, then ignore them. Self awareness, confidence, and common sense are powerful traits to grow into tbh. Btw, proud of you man (the person behind the comment I’m replying to) for growing, it isn’t easy to admit you are wrong, but we all can manage if we surround ourselves with good people.

The thing is, if he had taken Charlie's criticisms better and come back with a better quality show the next time, Charlie probably would have made another video showing how much Def had improved, multiplying Def's audience. Winding up on a peguinz0 video is a career making/breaking moment, pity to those who don't realize it at the time
Dennis seems like the kind of guy who either didn’t get bullied in highschool or didn’t get bullied enough to realized that cringe Reddit baby talk in real life is not funny. I don’t condone bullying but sometimes people need to be told they are being weird and cringe.
I went to a concert where Johnny Gioeli from Crush 40 sang songs from Sonic the Hedgehog with music playing in the background. That short clip of the roast was PAINFUL. People who sat through all of it deserve psychiatric counseling. My favorite thing about Def Noodles' fall is that people would have been FAR less likely to roast him and go after him if he hadn't picked a fight with Internet Jesus. Going after Charlie instead of taking his jokes and critiques at face value is how you begin a long line of self-destruction and it's because Charlie is very down to earth and, unless you're being a creep or committing a crime, will make jokes and offer some advice. If you can't handle the most softball criticism, you have made yourself a hard target.
Also half the time charlie just uses absurd vocab to say the same shit we'd say. If someone yapped but made no points I'd say some shit like "you made 0 points" while charlie will sarcastically thank you for serving him such a fine nothing burger. I genuinely think a lot of these types of people aren't just incapable of receiving criticism but also feel attacked and/or threatened by someone clearly wittier than they are

I used to watch Def Noodles during his commentary, cat-eared headphones days. At the time, he was and decent in personality. But then he took a turn for the worst in regards to a certain TikTok star and her family, and made horrendous allegations and still had the gull to ask said TikTok star's father for information for his next video. Suffice to say I stopped watching him after that, because that wasn't cool. Def Noodles also got into a social media tit for tat with Omegon and Optimus, blocking them both when called out. Then there was the tellall from a former assistant of his who had to basically plan a Burning Man event that Def Noodles was wholly unprepared for. We also can't forget how he was banned off X-Twitter, and Keemstar helped him get his profile back. But gratitude doesn't mesh well with Def Noodles and quickly went about attacking Keemstar again. And the icing on the cake is how he pretended to be a struggling minority when, in reality, Dennis actually comes from a well to do family and his father or uncle got him a cushy job. So yeah. Def Noodles is well and truly tone deaf. I doubt he's genuine in wanting to change.

That's when I used to watch him too and I enjoyed his content. Then it just got weird. I think I stopped watching when he made stuff up about James Charles, which just made things harder for the victims who came forward
People make the mistake of going after Charlie can't read at all inti his commentary. A lot of the times even if he's talking about a cringe topic there is still a lot of comedy in it and he doesn't take it seriously as he plays it. And even more, he doesn't wish ill will against the people he roasts UNLESS THEY ACTUALLY DO REALLY PISS HIM OFF but that's such a rare occasion. They only ruin their own careers by trying to 'put him in his place' for petty reasons and in turn show how thin-skinned they are as if they have something to prove, when they don't.
I remember watching Charlie’s vid when it came out. It was painful. The fact the dude doubled down, isn’t a surprise… it just beggars belief. It’s only two years ago, feels like 12!
Bevause rotating on the internet never attacks you personally. No one knows anything about anyone so they can only focus on super surface level things that everyone knows doesn't matter. He doesn't actually like being roasted, and can't handle criticism that are anything past his looks.
Dennis's comedy career was bad, but that's not what killed his channel, that killed what was left of his YT career. He stopped wanting to be the cat in the Minecraft house and changed his format. That alienated most of his viewers who were not into it. That's what set him off and led to what is in this video, which I've seen before. We've all seen this video before, right?

His humor reminds me of myself back in 6th grade when I couldn’t be bothered to come up with a genuinely creative joke
Even the way he talks during the response video gives big “I’m gonna put on a funny voice so it sounds like I’m not hurt by criticism” energy that you’d get from an insecure teenager. If he was a child I’d cut him some slack, but this is a grown ass man trying to have a career as a comedian 💀
He failed to realise that the essence of being a comedian is to not take anything seriously, not even yourself or the hate towards you
The problem with people who can’t handle criticism is the fact that they don’t see it as criticism they see it as insulting them And that usually turns into a mentality of thinking everyone’s out to get them when In reality. If you put yourself on the Internet, people are going to critique you you just gotta learn to roll with the punches
Childish delusions you say?

Dennis's comedy career was bad, but that's not what killed his channel, that killed what was left of his YT career. He stopped wanting to be the cat in the Minecraft house and changed his format.
