It may have been close in the box score, but that was due to Denver being careless at times. If they played with their foot on the Lakers' throat, like they did only for spurts in this series, it wouldn't have been close. Denver needs to stop playing with their food though, especially with Jimmy and MIA coming to town. And let's be honest, the officiating was a disaster on both sides, but bad whistles will always favor the team that's more aggressive in the paint.

"Biggest culprit for the Lakers demise" was The Denver Nuggets. The Denver Nuggets had the best player in the series , the better role players and a clear team identity. The Lakers played Tristan Thompson in a game 4 while The Nuggets had Reggie Jackson on the bench ... if needed. The Lakers tried many things to win 1 single game and still got swept.
Rosterwise in 2020 , Lakers had Dwight Howard and Javele Mcgee to assist Anthony Davis on Jokic. They also had a much bigger guards/wings to matchup with Murray. This version of the Lakers could not matchup with this version of the Denver Nuggets. 3 of the 4 games were winnable for both teams , but execution and team chemistry always favored the Denver Nuggets. This Lakers squad needs consistent perimeter shooting. These games were so close that it could have even been a 4-0 sweep in LA's favor if they could shoot the lights out like this Nuggets team can (realistically though the Nuggets would have adjusted and taken this to 6 or 7). Absolutely painful watching every Laker lead this series get blown outta the water by the Nuggets raining down back-to-back 3s. The Nuggets are just a more complete, cohesive team that can do everything you need them to do.

We all know they outplayed them. But the fact remains that if Russell could've given them 10-15 in each game, there may have been a different outcome.

Media so visibly upset their anointed team and media darling lost. Denver won the series, La didn’t lose it. For the record, this narrative the Nuggets were just streaky hot and played their best games ever simply isn’t true, Gordon was trash offensively till last night, averaging 10 points a game off inefficient shooting, not one 3 till last night. Braun didn’t get a single point. Jeff Green gave you 3 points averaged a game on 30 odd percent shooting and MPJ shot 40% from the field. There’s this narrative floating around that if only the role players stepped up the Lakers would have won. You guys need to stop that, both team had their struggles, the better team just won. 2 of Denver’s starters were poor offensively till last night. If Denver had been on fire, they’d have blown the Lakers out.
Last night, Denver had so many open looks because of Jokic early on, wide open, missed every one, it’s why the Lakers built that lead. MPJ was 0 of 5 to start, wide open shots. Don’t rewrite this to protect Lebron and spare the Lakers.

I know it shouldn't seem a lot to ask, but Lakers fans were overjoyed every time we saw AD suit up for a game. It's that bad. So, great season the Lakers! They just ran into a team that had a little more in the tank.

Denver is a really good team but it’s not as easy. To say they were just better with every game so close. Ham going small even after losing the lead. Or getting the game blown open not starting Rui. Not playing Troy Brown to add shooting. Not giving Jamal different looks and Staying Dlo to long. No adjustments to get guys easy looks when they got cold. It’s a lot that goes in to a team losing. Especially when every game is close JJ knows that.

I think we as Laker fans should hold our heads high. The Lakers faced a team that, on paper, should have slaughtered them, and kept it very close through three games (the Nuggets really dominated Game Three). I hope LeBron stays, I hope AD gets some sort of consistency, and I hope the Lakers can hang on to Hachimura and Reaves. Everyone else has to go.
