      Its hard to pick between these two - they are both so great. Yngwie's Rising Force (debut solo album) is out of this world compositionally. Probably the best arrangements of his entire career. On par with Jason Becker's Perpetual Burn album imo.

      Romeo clearly has the better range and variation. Doesn't help that the audio quality they used for Romeo was horrid compared to that they used for Yngwie. Whether that was intentional or not I dont know...

    • @Complicaadd0rock
      @Complicaadd0rock 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@FatalMusa My guess is there's just not that many good quality vids from playing Romeo live around. Yngwie already had had a huge boost before he even started his career as a solo guitarist. Romeo came to prominence several years after those events, so he nurtured from players that came before him like Yngwie for sure (also Randy Rhoads was a huge influence on him, maybe second to none), and he took their skills to a WHOLE other level, but with less notoriety except for us, niche appreciators who happen to listen to him with Symphony X and fall in love with his guitar playing, composing, arranging, producing and his overall musical outpour. What a great time to be alive and being able to enjoy both of these Gods among men performing live here in Chile 🇨🇱❤️🎸

      I don't care for boring speed tapping with no individual sound in the majority of the notes. I can tap fast too so I need actual original sounds to be captivated. This dude is fast and boring. Yngewie has the upper hand with tone and feel. As far as what is presented in this video Romeo sounds like a bland midi track. Too much distortion to have dynamics. Sorry my friends.

    Along with EVH, Yngwie inspired pretty much every rock guitarist in the 80s...even Romeo. However, while Yngwie (and EVH) stagnated, Romeo took his playing to the astronomical level it is today.

    I’ve been playing for close to 28 years so I didn’t start playing until the 90s but as a kid growing up in the 80s and remembering Malmsteen, he most definitely pioneered this neoclassical speed shred and I’ve never seen anyone else before him play these minor and harmonic minor scales like he does, making him this prodigy virtuoso Like NO OTHER before but subsequently inspired numerous players to drastically up their game. I think Romeo got this one.. fast smooth accurate and then some

    Romeo of course, a much more versatile musician and essential songwriter. Great vibe, unique phrasing (yngwie also has it) and also, great riffs.

    Definitely YJM forever ❤

    Both not from this world, hard to compare based on diffrent styles; But in the End (imho) Romeo is the clear winner, especially after his Divide and Conquer Solo-Project -what a beast on the frets!

    lousy comparison - because of the sound. michal romeo is at a clear disadvatane given the quality of the video clips used.

    Can’t really compare the two. Yngwie is one of the founding hero’s of the Neo classical style, so without Yngwie, there probably wouldn’t be a M Romeo. That being said, Romeo has surpassed the master ages ago, with flawless technique, speed, and next level innovation. Romeo is Malmsteen 3.0

    Prime Yngwie, from the times of Jeff Scott Soto and Joe Lynn Turner was indeed one of the greatest guitar players in history, but he was more balanced playing with the left and right side of the brain back then. Yet, there is absolutely no way to compare his other phases with Michael Romeo, which is the GOAT (greatest of all times).

    Technically, Romeo's a lot cleaner and more versatile a player. He really took that whole neoclassical thing to the next level. His rhythm playing is actually where it's at for me, though- Some of those Symphony x tunes just crush. Still mad props to Yngwie- gotta take his stuff in the context of what all else was going on at the time when he was hitting big. I mean, he brought that style to the masses- I don't think progressive metal would be what it is today without cats like Yngwie in the mix.

  • @overthemountain16
    @overthemountain16 6 месяцев назад

    There is no comparison. They are two completely different approaches. Yngwie approaches things like a blues guitarist would. The guy worshipped Hendrix. Romeo is awesome but his solos are a little more on the robotic side. Not to say he doesn't have feel. But his phrasing is different. You can't really confuse one for the other. Once you hear them. It's obvious who is who. That being said. Both of them are awesome and I love their respective approaches. I'm still trying to learn the solo for Sea of Lies. It's a really awesome solo.
