Just picked this up the day. Agree with most, but I actually feel the jacket is bigger round the waist and torso compared to the older model... The hood provides greater protection around the neck and chin, but also feels a bit bulky. It should be 120 grams in the torso. But overall great jacket!
Hi, thanks for your comments. I definitely found the new Atom to be a neater fit, but then maybe I've put on a bit of weight, and maybe you've lost some! Thanks for watching. Paul.
Well, it is meant mostly to be used as an outer layer. This means it needs to be roomy, if you want it fitter then you would need to size down. I would suggest buying it if you intend to use it for its design purpose.
Great review as always Paul. Sounds like the updates are worth considering. I’ve got the previous Atom AR but I found it way too warm for hiking, even in bitterly cold weather so I use it as my everyday winter coat instead. Good to hear that this one is a bit more breathable for more active use so will give it some consideration. Thanks for the review 👍
Hi Anthony, thanks for watching. I agree, the AR would be super warm for UK hiking, but it works superbly as an emergency insulating layer or, as you say, as an everyday winter coat. Paul.
Exactly this I had an AR and hiked in it once. Within about 5 mins I thought I was going to spontaneously combust! Just in the process of buying the LT. Hopefully that’s a good choice for year round UK activities 🤞
I have one of the new updated AR's and I find the hood a bit odd. The peak is not really stiffened, it's quite a soft peak, not sure how much use it will be. They've gone for a more sophisticated 3 way adjustable hood, which is good, but for reasons best known to the designers the hood cinch at the back is low down near the neck and rather than tightening it against the head, it just seems to pull it back from your forehead. Therefore if you tighten it up it rides back on your head every time you look down and your head turns a little in the hood if you don't cinch the sides down firmly. To my mind this cinch should be at the back of the head, so I'm not really convinced with this new design. I also find it more roomy than the 2019 version, in the body and the sleeves.
HI Jonathan. The cinch cord at the at base of the neck is entirely designed to pull the peak away from your face, and is only really needed if you find the front of the hood obscures your vision, for instance when worn without a hat/helmet. As for the fit, I can only comment on my personal experience, and I find it a much slimmer fit in the body compared to the previous version. Paul.
@@trekitt Hi , yes I get the idea behind the neck cinch and it certainly works for pulling the hood back. My preference is for the back of the head cinch as it achieves the aim of the neck cinch and also stops the head moving inside the hood. The Rab Valiance and Montane Flux (picked at random), both approach the same problem (how to make a hood helmet and head compatible) but arrive at a better solution to my mind - the Rab has a wired peak also. With regard to the fit, yes it's personal, my new AR definitely feels looser in the forearms and a fraction in the body. Lovely jacket though!
Thanks for the review. Just what i was looking for. I am a bit between the Atom AR and Thorium AR. Thinking about which one is warmer and more versatile and durable. Maybe you could also do some kind of comparison or give me some advice here:-) Sincerly
The Thorium will be warmer when dry, but if it gets wet it'll lose virtually all of its warmth as it's insulated with down. The Atom will remain warm even if wet, so based on versatility alone the Atom takes the win. Both are similarly durable, so it just depends what you're using the jacket for and where your priorities lie. Kind regards, Harry.
@@trekitt thanks so much, Harry! I am goin with the Atom AR 👍🏼 which was my first intention and i love it already. I also have the Atom LT but for deep winter it feels just a bit too thin on casual walks.
Hi guys, great review of the Atom AR! Still considering buying It but want to view the Arcteryx Kappa hoody first. Would be great if you did a review on it, carry on the great work guys love watching your videos.
Hi Ellis. The Kappa is a beast of a jacket and far more weather resistant than the AR. It all depends on what you're doing and where. We'll add the Kappa to our, very long, production list. Paul.
Would the AR fit well under a Beta jacket? Considering getting it for winter with the Beta if it gets windy or rains. Assuming both in size large. (I’m in NL, so similar climate to UK)
Possibly, but this does depend how much room you have between the Beta and yourself. I think I could just about cram it under my Beta AR but it would be a squeeze. I'd also be too warm; even just everyday. The Atom LT would be the more versatile option if you plan to frequently wear it under a shell.
Just discovered your channel and I love the reviews so I subscribed! I do have a question about the Atom LT and the Atom AR. For both options, on their website they say they are packable. What exactly does that mean? Do they both pack into one of their pockets or into a bag that comes with the jacket? This doesn't seem to be clearly explained on their website. For reference I have the Cerium LT Hoody which does pack into a sleeve that comes with the jacket - do the Atom LT and the Atom AR work anything like this for their packability feature? Thanks so much for your help!
Both of these will also pack into their own sleeve or their hoods. The LT will pack down to about half the size of its hood and the AR about 3/4 the size.
@@trekitt a quick follow up question: when you say both jackets will pack down into their sleeve or hood, is this a dedicated built in sleeve that comes with the jacket similar to the Cerium LT hoody that I mentioned, or is it something you can just make work in a pinch that is not a built in feature of the jacket? Thanks again so much for your help answering these questions!
Thanks Harry great advice as always I see you have a montane prism jacket in your store how do you compare stand around warmth against the ar and icarus thanks
This question is very random but what is the model number of the AR in this review? I just ordered one from a small outdoor store that had a couple in stock. However, my model number doesnt match the current model number on the Arc’teryx website. Im hoping the one I’m receiving is the updated version that you reviewed. Thanks and keep up the great reviews!
15:34 That is a *bold claim* indeed. I bought an Atom AR last year, and it is a phenomenal jacket for when the temps get at or below freezing. Even then Arcteryx was saying that a new version was coming, and I am about to own one of them also. On some cold day when no one in their right mind should be out hiking I'm going to slap on my backpack and put these claims to the test. I still find myself wondering about which one has a more durable face fabric.. The Atom LT or the Proton LT? Which one seems to take better to DWR treatments? If I knew the answers to those things I could finally pull the trigger.
A bold claim from a bald man! The Atom AR is indeed a brilliant jacket. The fabric on the Atom and the Proton is incredibly similar in regards to durability. The big difference is that the Proton is more breathable. Both will readily accept a retro-fitted DWR treatment, the success of which will depend on the product used. I hope that helps with the "trigger-pulling". Paul.
@@trekittGiven the cost of these things it really is like shooting my wallet with a .44. Some may not struggle with being able to afford this gear, but I have to budget and plan. If the proton breathes a little more that might make it a better option for use with a shell purchase which is the eventual goal for 2021. Thank you Paul!
Paul's wearing black, although it looks a little blue/grey in the video due to the lighting. In regards to sizing, it depends on your waist/chest/shoulders, etc. We have a sizing chart on this page which should be useful: www.trekitt.co.uk/clothing/jackets/arcteryx-mens-atom-ar-hoody-black__40255
Hi James, I'm afraid that we didn't range the Beta FL for this winter, but if you're after a super lightweight waterproof jacket, they don't come much better than this - www.trekitt.co.uk/40235/premium/arcteryx-mens-alpha-fl-jacket-meteor.aspx
Great review! I'm on the fence between this and haglöfs v series. How would you compare these two in warmth? Could you use these both as a warming top layer in campsite?
They are both great jackets and would work well as over insulating layer when stationary. The V series is certainly lighter and does warm up remarkably quickly. I suspect your choice would be determined by fit, the V series is slimmer whilst the Atom AR has a more "regular" fit. Thanks for watching. Paul.
I've had the latest Atom LT (same fabric) for a number of months now and no durability issues to report. Was climbing under the car in it yesterday and it's absolutely fine. Harry
Hey, great review. I don’t know what size to buy, M or L. What size do you recommend for me? I’m 6.0 height, 180 weight, 42 chest, 34 waist. Mostly I wear size M
Hello, I have watched both of your videos on the updated Atom’s, but still slightly confused as to which one to purchase. I do tend to run rather cold, although the flip side is that I have a very active lifestyle in the city and tend to go on long walks in the woodlands come the weekend. I am worried the Atom LT is too light and that the AR is too warm once I actually get moving. If you had to pick just one of these new models for city use, which one would it be?
I personally think if you're on the move the LT will still be warm enough for you, especially if you're wearing a suitable base layer and I find the LT is way more versatile overall anyway. You're right about the AR though I have the old model and find it to warm even in bitter conditions with low movement its a bit of a one trick pony compared to the LT.
@@ThatEssentialAttire Thank you so much for your feedback. My thoughts exactly, although the further confusion lays in the added ventilation under the arms of this new model which makes it seem like it could run cooler whilst moving compared to the last version. I don’t really want to buy a shell for use in the city, as it seems like overkill, so I guess layering under the LT might be a more appropriate idea.
Hi Jay, the previous reply sums it up perfectly. The LT is by far the more versatile option as you can always add warmth by layering if it's really cold. I have both and the LT gets far more use than the AR. Paul.
Hello Paul, thank you for your reply. With the improvements to the ventilation, do you think the AR would suffice with just a simple base layer or long sleeve top in the usual temperatures/conditions one might face living in London (rarely ever gets colder than 3-4 degrees)? As I mentioned, I do tend to run very cold (6’2” but with very little fat or muscle to protect me), which means I usually over-layer and then overheat as soon I start to move around the city. How cold can the LT run down to with say a merino base layer (such as the Patagonia Capilene Air) and perhaps a light top over it? Also, I want to wear the jacket with a Brize 25 or 32 backpack, so will either materials be able to handle this (it won’t be overloaded, perhaps just a laptop and a few bits for daily use)? Thank you. @@trekitt
Hi ! Could you please describe how I could make the difference between the old and new version of the AR ; planning to purchase the new . Thanks and regards !
Fabrics have been updated to Arc'teryx's own and the fit is a bit less boxy. This was a few years ago though and I doubt you'll find any old ones available unless second hand.
Hi there. Would the Atom AR be too warm to wear during Autumn and Spring as a commuter jacket? Or is the Atom LT more appropriate? I was hoping for a piece that would be useful in winter and the UK transition periods as well as the winter
The old atom ar is on “sale” on the outlet store. Is it worth spending a little bit more money for the new revised edition or are we better off saving some money by buying the older model? same question for the atom lt as well!
Personally I'd go for the new one as it fits me far better than the old version and I prefer the hood, but if neither of those are an issue then the old version is still a cracking jacket. Kind regards, Harry.
@@ibdoi The Proton is highly air-permeable, meaning it's more breathable and suitable for activities where you'll be constantly moving and pushing out plenty of heat. The Atom's fabric is more wind-resistant and less breathable, making it better for slower moving activities or where you require a little more warmth. The Atom tends to be the more popular choice, but it's all down to what you're using the jacket for. Kind regards, Harry.
Does this pack down into its own pocket ? that's an essential feature for me as i need to be able to clip it to a harness. If so what sort of size is it once packed down ?
Hi Joseph. The AR doesn't have a built in facility to pack into it's own pocket, but there's absolutely no reason why you couldn't use an Exped Fold Dry Sack to pack it away and clip it to your harness - www.trekitt.co.uk/equipment/storage/exped-fold-drybag-bs-s__35356 Thanks for watching. Paul.
Both are great for different reasons. The AR is obviously warmer, so more suitable here in the UK for winter belaying/lunch stops/slow moving activities where you won't be working too hard, whereas the LT is more suitable for active use in the winter, i.e, climbing, backpacking, etc, or for the same use as the AR but in warmer seasons. Kind regards, Harry.
@@trekitt Thanks! I have the Atom LT (previous edition) and my GF, who lives in Finland, loves the jacket. It would be for her around town and for backpacking as a mid-layer. I am torn between the LT and AR for her. :( X-mas is coming up fast. I've been using my Keb Padded Hoodie a lot these days. Love that piece. BTW, side note: have you taken the FJ Abisko View into any windy/rainy conditions? MSR Hubba? Which do you think does better in weather? I have the View, but haven't had it in crazy weather yet. Thanks!!! :)
Hi. Excellent review, as always! I'm from Canada, Quebec, and I like to follow your channel. I already own an Atom LT, and a Beta SV shell, but i would like a warmer layer of insulation for our colder winters. I have a question. Is the Atom AR hotter than the Cerium LT?
@@mariorock76 I own them both, and the Atom AR is considerably warmer than the Cerium LT. It is also much more durable, weather resistant, and easier to wash/dry. The Cerium LT's advantages are that it is is light, warm for it's weight, and packs down to a far smaller size.
What would you compare it to in terms of compactability? I am trying to determine if I want this or the Thorium AR but would like to know how much of the difference it really is (obviously considering the Thorium being more compact). If it takes up a lot more room in terms of backpacking, then I'll end up going with the Thorium. Question still stands! Thank you for the review!! :)
They both pack down to roughly the same size, but the Thorium is definitely the warmer jacket. In the UK, I would personally find the Thorium far too warm for backpacking. It's also worth considering whether you'd prefer a synthetic insulation for ultimate usability in virtually all conditions or down for increased warmth in super cold, dry conditions. Kind regards, Harry.
What is another warm Arc'teryx jacket that is fully waterproof that you know of? Browsing for one of these jackets is quite daunting as there's too many. Thanks.
Great review! I'm also 6'3" but have a 40" chest, 32" waist, and weigh 170 lbs. Wondering if a large would be too big for me? I'm planning to use it mostly a stand alone winter jacket.
Hi Lee, thanks for watching. If you are going to wear the Atom AR over multiple layers/everyday clothing, then the large would be OK. I think that you'd find the medium a bit too short in the body. I hope that helps. Paul.
The Atom will perform better in wet conditions, whereas the Thorium will lose most of its warmth if water happens to get through. I'll pop a video below that outlines the difference between down and synthetic insulation. Kind regards, Harry. ruclips.net/video/CE_XvzUdC5w/видео.html
also, is there a way to tell if it is the new, updated version of this jacket? makes me reluctant to order online and get send older product. What would I look for if shopping in person? Thanks!
Hi Kyle, if you order from Trekitt you'll be certain to get the latest verison! www.trekitt.co.uk/clothing/jackets/arcteryx-mens-atom-ar-hoody-cobalt-moon__40254 Also, you can check the labels for product code 24105. Thanks for watching. Paul.
I would recommend the LT for active use (with a suitable base-layer), the AR is very warm and unless it is well below freezing, it will be too hot to hike in. I hope that helps. Paul.
How good would you say the waterproofness is on this jacket? I'm debating whether to get this or the gamma mx hoody, want a sort of waterproof jacket that also keeps me warm in early cold mornings and when it rains sometimes
Neither the Atom or Gamma is waterproof, but both are water resistant and will withstand a fair bit of rain before it begins to go through. It's worth noting that the Atom AR is a lot warmer than the Gamma, so it largely depends how warm you are as a person as to which one you opt for. Kind regards, Harry.
For someone that works outside, but not particularly worried about rain, how is the wind resistance? That is my biggest concern. Ive been looking into jackets that have more wind resistance plus the insulation. thanks!
This is always a difficult question to answer as there are so many variables to consider in relation to a jacket's "warmth" However, in my personal experience I would say that the Atom would be warmer, but, the Cerium would pack down much smaller and be lighter. So it really is a case of "horses for courses" as it depends hugely on what you are doing and what you expect of the jacket. Paul.
It's just the colour grading of the camera; it doesn't appear purple in person. Previous versions of the Atom haven't faded over time, so I see no reason why this one would either. Harry
im looking for something to replace my Jack Wolfskin Chilly morning jacket (had it about 6 years) and love the look of this jacket....just not the price :(
The fit on the new version is much improved, however if it just doesn't suit then you may want to look at an alternative such as the brilliant Haglofs V Series Mimic which has a slimmer fit - www.trekitt.co.uk/clothing/jackets/haglofs-mens-v-series-mimic-hood-true-black__40204
apologies, what do you mean by ride the arms of you? I have a medium in the old version and its a bit too small. are you saying new updated version was a bigger, or smaller? I'm in between sizes on most stuff: I have a proton in a medium which is a great fit (its snug but that's what I'm after for a high output mid layer), I have an atom lt (a fair few years old!) in a medium which is ok (bit small!), and a nuclei in a large which is roomy, but reasonable and I like the versatility. Would I go for a large in an ar for the same versatility or is it bigger? I guess my question boils down to whether the new fit is the same as the current nuclei? any help greatfully received 🙏
Unfortunately it depends. Manufacturers can't realistically put warmth ratings to their garments as it depends on what you're using the jacket for, how many layers you have on underneath, how warm you are as a person, etc. This video explains it quite well: ruclips.net/video/GZNzVJ7IGkU/видео.html Personally, here in the UK, I'd be warm enough in the Atom AR with just a t-shirt underneath for everyday use, but would find it too warm for any strenuous activity. Kind regards, Harry.
I owned both for a while and I can report that they fit very similar to each other. Even though they are both AR, I find the Atom is warmer than the thorium when they're both are new. I prefer the face fabric of the Thorium, it looks like it could take some abuse and the smoother face fabric probably mean that it is less likely to snag. I think the thorium will also win the long term durability. I will occasionally sleep in my jacket while camping and I find that synthetic will pack down. Since it usually packs down on the shoulder and back, it might be okay for you.
Underrated jacket. So warm and versatile. The LT gets all the plaudits, and rightly so, but the AR is just as effective in it's way. Love the look of the new fit. Yet more money leaving my account very soon. 😂🤦♂️
As always, a great review. Thanks Paul. Question - does the side panel (the part underneath the arms and down each side) have the coreloft insulation in it? Thank you.
Hy Paul, nice and informative review. I have an Atom AR in size M and it seems like its a tad short (feel a bit cold in the lower end). My chest is 95 cm, 1,91 cm, waist is 73 cm and I weigh 63 kg:). Should I sell the M and go for an L? With my weight (more than 20 kg less than you) and chest I think there would be too much free space and cold creep would ensue. The Atom SV in size M fits like a glove, the AR is maybe 3 cm shorter in the front. Wish Arcteryx had never dropped the SV hoody.
HI, if you have the older version of the Atom AR, it had a very short and boxy cut. The new shape would suit you better, but don't be tempted to size up as you will lose a lot of the insulating powers. Thanks for watching. Paul

Hello, which color is Paul wearing? Also I am about 5'7, should I order a Medium? Great review, well worth my time!
Review the new Beta FL, please!
Paul.
How would you rate durability of new version of the jacket? Does it show any wear on high abrasion areas?
I've had the latest Atom LT (same fabric) for a number of months now and no durability issues to report. Was climbing under the car in it yesterday and it's absolutely fine. Harry
Hey, great review. I don’t know what size to buy, M or L. What size do you recommend for me? I’m 6.0 height, 180 weight, 42 chest, 34 waist. Mostly I wear size M
I'd probably say medium.
Personally I'd find it too warm, but it's very dependant on how warm you are as a person. The LT would be my choice! Kind regards, Harry.
@@trekitt Thanks for the reply! How would you stack the Atom LT up agains the Proton LT?
@@ibdoi The Proton is highly air-permeable, meaning it's more breathable and suitable for activities where you'll be constantly moving and pushing out plenty of heat. The Atom's fabric is more wind-resistant and less breathable, making it better for slower moving activities or where you require a little more warmth. The Atom tends to be the more popular choice, but it's all down to what you're using the jacket for. Kind regards, Harry.
@@trekitt Wow...thank you so much for your advice. You are the man! Cheers.
What is the new version's model#?
I have to get me a Atom AR for those days when I want something warmer than my Atom LT.
You knows it! Thanks for watching.
Does this pack down into its own pocket ? that's an essential feature for me as i need to be able to clip it to a harness. If so what sort of size is it once packed down ?
Hi Joseph. The AR doesn't have a built in facility to pack into it's own pocket, but there's absolutely no reason why you couldn't use an Exped Fold Dry Sack to pack it away and clip it to your harness - www.trekitt.co.uk/equipment/storage/exped-fold-drybag-bs-s__35356
Thanks for watching. Paul.
Which do you like better the Atom AR or LT? I have the LT (previous model). Can you hike in the AR? Thoughts?
Hi Mario, yes I'd say the Atom AR is warmer than the Cerium. Regards, Harry.
@@trekitt Ok. Thanks!
@@trekitt Much appreciate the response Harry!
Best and stay safe.
What is another warm Arc'teryx jacket that is fully waterproof that you know of? Browsing for one of these jackets is quite daunting as there's too many. Thanks.
Fission SV
Have a look at this selection on our website - www.trekitt.co.uk/clothing/arcteryx/waterproof--and--insulated
Would this go under a hard shell?
That would depend on the size of your hardshell!
Paul.
@@trekitt great, thanks Paul!
Will you get any stock in of these jackets xxl?
I'd like to say yes and give you a timescale, but unfortunately shipping and manufacturing delays have made it impossible. Sorry! Harry
Great review, Paul! How would you describe the movability in comparison to the LT which is also a bit stretchy in terms of materials?
The LT does feel marginally more flexible, but both jackets are so well cut that neither feels restrictive. Kind regards, Harry.
So would you use this as the insulating layer worn under a waterproof shell?
Skip to 14:22 and we go through the possible layering uses for the jacket. Harry
If i want a winter jacket that i can use longterm for all weather conditions should i go for the Atom AR or the Thorium AR ?
The Atom will perform better in wet conditions, whereas the Thorium will lose most of its warmth if water happens to get through. I'll pop a video below that outlines the difference between down and synthetic insulation. Kind regards, Harry.

Trekitt thanks!
crazy i got one 30 mins ago after watching your previous now this
Is there much difference in price. Little in the way of any price guide in these excellent videos.
Hi Lee, all the prices can be found by following the links to our website. Paul.
Crazy indeed. Thanks for watching.
Totally random but didn't know where to ask this question. Do you have a Gamma MX to review? Would love to hear your thoughts.
The new Gamma MX is on our production list, watch this space. Thanks for watching. Paul.
Hi,
Compare to the LT, is this Atom AR more fitted or more loose?
The LT is more fitted according to the Arcteryx website.
The Atom AR has a slightly looser fit. Paul
Hi! It seems that the hood doesn’t fit enough tight without a helmet. Does it? Thank you!
It's got a handy drawcord on the rear to remove excess volume when not wearing a climbing helmet.
also, is there a way to tell if it is the new, updated version of this jacket? makes me reluctant to order online and get send older product. What would I look for if shopping in person?
Thanks!
Hi Kyle, if you order from Trekitt you'll be certain to get the latest verison!

Also, you can check the labels for product code 24105. Thanks for watching. Paul.
Hi, thinking of buying Arcteryx Zeta AR. Would you recommend the Atom AR or LT for an isulating layer for Scottish hillwalking.
Ive been looking into jackets that have more wind resistance plus the insulation. thanks!
Kyle, this could be your perfect winter jacket! It is highly wind resistant and very warm. Paul.
Great review as always.
How does Atom AR compare to Cerium LT in terms of warmth?
This is always a difficult question to answer as there are so many variables to consider in relation to a jacket's "warmth" However, in my personal experience I would say that the Atom would be warmer, but, the Cerium would pack down much smaller and be lighter. So it really is a case of "horses for courses" as it depends hugely on what you are doing and what you expect of the jacket. Paul.
Having both, I'd say the Atom AR feels warmer for me. The lined collar and hand pockets are also great for keeping your neck and hands cozy
The black color looks a little bit purpleish. Would you say that's true? Does anyone also know if the black color will fade over time?
It's just the colour grading of the camera; it doesn't appear purple in person. Previous versions of the Atom haven't faded over time, so I see no reason why this one would either. Harry
im looking for something to replace my Jack Wolfskin Chilly morning jacket (had it about 6 years) and love the look of this jacket....just not the price :(
It's worth it!
@@trekitt maybe if it was £100 cheaper, my wife wouldnt kill me
@@trekitt Actually, what would you recommend for a Scottish winter, for everyday use, bit of light walking and around the £150 mark?
This would be ideal - www.trekitt.co.uk/clothing/jackets/montane-mens-flux-jacket-black__35988
Fit of these is dire on the old one, medium on lt, yet this thing would ride the arms off you in same size. Great return service from trekkit though
I guess my question boils down to whether the new fit is the same as the current nuclei? any help greatfully received 🙏
does the jacket keep you warm even in minus degrees or is it suitable for winter (up to -5 degrees)?
Unfortunately it depends. Manufacturers can't realistically put warmth ratings to their garments as it depends on what you're using the jacket for, how many layers you have on underneath, how warm you are as a person, etc. This video explains it quite well: ruclips.net/video/GZNzVJ7IGkU/видео.html
Personally, here in the UK, I'd be warm enough in the Atom AR with just a t-shirt underneath for everyday use, but would find it too warm for any strenuous activity. Kind regards, Harry.
What size are you wearing on this video
Large. Size, measurements etc is at 12:55
Considering either this or the Thorium AR as an outer layer/jacket. I tried the Throium in store, but cant find this, how do they compare fit wise?
Pretty similar, if you fit the Thorium in a medium, for example, you'll fit the Atom AR in a medium too. Regards, Harry.
Is this jacket warmer than the rab nebula pro?
Nope, the Nebula Pro is warmer, but heavier and bulkier. Paul.
Does this keep some rain out ?
It'll keep a good amount of rain off, but it's always worth carrying a shell just in case! Harry
What is the new Atom AR hoody version's model#?
Hi Terence, it's 24105. Regards, Harry.
@@trekitt thank you!
how long the life span of Ar hoody arc teryx?
That depends what you're using it for. A mountain guide may get a few seasons out of their kit, but the average user could have it for 10+ years.
can u use it in -5degrees
Yes, but it depends what you're doing as to whether you'll be comfortable or not.
Does the hood store away?
There's no native way to do it I'm afraid. Regards, Harry.
Underrated jacket. So warm and versatile. The LT gets all the plaudits, and rightly so, but the AR is just as effective in it's way.
Love the look of the new fit.
Yet more money leaving my account very soon. 😂🤦♂️
Haha, there are worse things to spend money on!
What is the Tee?
HI Lee, I was wearing a Mountain Equipment Groundup Tee, one of my absolute favourites! Paul.
As always, a great review. Thanks Paul. Question - does the side panel (the part underneath the arms and down each side) have the coreloft insulation in it? Thank you.
There's Coreloft in the sides of the AR, but not in the LT. The LT has fleece instead. Harry
The new, breathable underarm sections have no insulation, but they don’t extend down the sides like in the Atom LT.
@@trekitt Great.
Paul
Hey Paul, would this jacket work as a decent outer layer skiing jacket if worn with a fleece and a base layer?
Skiwear tends to be longer and more weather-resistant, but it should work okay depending on the temperature. Harry
Shut up and take my money! Good review Paul, dope man. 😉
😂 Thanks very much!
Is it packable?
It'll stuff into its own hood, to give you some idea of its packed size. Harry
