12 SOLOS | 12 ARISTIDES guitars - 30th Anniversary METALLICA Black Album

My 30th anniversary tribute to the Metallica Black Album, running through all (main) solos for each song in order! This one was as nostalgic as it was fun, since it brought back memories from 1992 when I listened to this album for the first time, and reminded me of a time when I would come back from school to play nothing but Metallica.
All the solo lines here were recorded by yours truly. For the backing tracks I tried to get them with all the instruments EXCEPT the solo tracks, but it was not always possible. Some of them didn't have bass or the rhythm guitars so I had to fill that in myself, moreover they all had different levels and EQ curves... normalizing all of them was fun.
For the guitars I wanted to keep it interesting and use a different Aristides for each one. You'll notice that the fingering/positions are different from the original ones through the songs since some of these guitars are in E, in D and others in C (described with the timestamps below). I went on the practical side so I didn't change the tunings, but rather the positions when possible to preserve the original pitch (except for The God That failed which is in Eb and I made it D).
For amplification/FX I used an Omega Obsidian connected in 5 Cable Method (5CM) to an Axe FX III and back to the computer. The video describes which guitar is which and what pickups they have. All solos are boosted either by a TS9DX, a KHDK Ghoul Jr., a KSR Eros or a Deadweald Audio Duality DX; the Wah comes from the Axe FX III.

Yo this is sick! My dream guitar is a spec’d out T/0! With you owning a good few of them, do you thing they would tune to drop G?

I probably wouldn’t, but if in general you like the results of drop G on a 25.5” scale, then the guitars themselves won’t be a problem.
