Next Malayalam watch-along should be one of these 3 films-
1. Jan-e-man - a comedic feast from 2021 that no one talks about. Have Basil Joseph and Arjun Asokan (weird guy from romancham -the ouija board movie) in the lead. You should watch it along with friends and family to completely enjoy it. It’s a laugh riot.
2. Jana Gana Mana (2022) - you loved the 4-minute long trailer for this . This political- court room thriller drama has all genres perfectly mixed. Despite some cheesy dialogues in between, the twists and turns in this movie will make you go “holy-shit”… Prithviraj who will be seen in Salaar with prabhas does a phenomenal job in this movie along with Suraj Venjaramoodu whom you know well.
3. Nna Thaan Case kodu- last but not the least, arguably the best movie of 2022 is this comedy satire and again a court room drama but much lighter than jana Gana mana. Just won 7 kerala state film awards including best script, best art direction , special jury award for the lead Kunchacko Boban and a best character actor for the judge (P. Kunhikrishnan) in this movie.

I had the same reaction as you guys while watching this movie. Oddly enough, people in India talk about culture and family bonding and even with all that, there is not enough family support, particularly for such women experiencing abuse. People in the west are thought of as not having such familial bonding because apparently, that is the reason why kids are told to leave their homes when they turn 18. Lol! Reality is far from such biased assumptions. 😊
ഇതുപോലുള്ള സിനിമകൾ സത്യത്തിൽ വളരെ fun ആണ്. പക്ഷെ സിനിമയിൽ കാണുന്നത് ഒക്കെ ആണ് കേരള സമൂഹം എന്ന രീതിയിൽ generalization ഉണ്ടാകുന്നത് ആണ് പ്രശ്നം.
ആ സിനിമയിലെ രാജേഷിനെപോലെയുള്ളവർ സമൂഹത്തിൽ ഉണ്ടെന്നത് ശരിയാണ്. സിനിമയെ ആ രീതിയിൽ കണ്ടാൽ പ്രശ്നമില്ല. പക്ഷെ അത് ആണ് കേരള socitey യുടെ reality ആണെന്നൊക്കെ തള്ളുമ്പോൾ ആണ് പ്രശ്നം ഉണ്ടാകുന്നത്.
ഇതൊരു socitey problem ആകണമെങ്കിൽ കേരളത്തിലെ ഭൂരിഭാഗം പുരുഷന്മാരും ആ സിനിമയിലെ Rajesh നെ പോലെ ആയിരിക്കണം. നിങ്ങളിൽ എത്രപേരുടെ അച്ഛൻ ഈ Rajesh നെ പോലെയാണ്?
യഥാർത്ഥത്തിൽ കേരളത്തിലെ ഭൂരിഭാഗം പുരുഷന്മാരും ഗൾഫിൽ പോയി പൊരി വെയിലത്ത് ലേബർ ക്യാമ്പുകളിൽ കിടന്നു ജീവിതകാലം മുഴുവൻ കുടുംബത്തിന് വേണ്ടി കഷ്ടപ്പെടുകയാണ്. സമ്പാദിക്കുന്ന ഭൂരിഭാഗം പണവും വീട്ടിലെ ചിലവിനു അയച്ചു കൊടുത്താണ് കേരളത്തിലെ പുരുഷന്മാർ ജീവിക്കുന്നത്. എന്റെ അച്ഛനും സഹോദരനും, അമ്മാവന്മാരും മുതൽ അപ്പുപ്പൻ വരെ അങ്ങനെ ജീവിച്ചവരാണ്. Singapore ൽ സ്റ്റീൽ കമ്പനിയിലെ തൊഴിലാളി ആയിരുന്ന അപ്പുപ്പൻ കപ്പലിൽ കയറി പോയി 6 വർഷത്തിൽ ഒരിക്കൽ ആയിരുന്നു നാട്ടിൽ വരുന്നത്.
ഇന്ന് കേരളം ഇത്രയും മെച്ചപ്പെട്ടത് ഈ പുരുഷന്മാരുടെ കഷ്ടപ്പാട് കാരണമാണ്. എന്നിട്ട് ഗൾഫിൽ നിന്നും ജോലി പോയി തിരിച്ചു വരുമ്പോൾ ഭാര്യ സ്വന്തം വീട്ടിൽ കയറ്റാത്ത സംഭവങ്ങൾ വരെ ഇഷ്ടം പോലെ ഉണ്ടായിട്ടുണ്ട് ഈ കേരളത്തിൽ. ഗൾഫിൽ നിന്ന് വരുമ്പോൾ വേറെ പുരുഷന്മാരുമായി പോയ ഭാര്യമാരും ഇഷ്ടംപോലെ ഉണ്ട്. ആത്മഹത്യാ നിരക്ക് എടുത്ത് നോക്കിയാൽ ഭാര്യമാരുടെ ഇരട്ടി ഭർത്താക്കന്മാർ ആത്മത്യ ചെയ്യുന്നുണ്ട് കേരളത്തിൽ. ആകെ വ്യത്യാസം പുരുഷന്മാർ ആത്മാത്ഥത്യാ ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ സമൂഹം വില കൊടുക്കില്ല എന്നതാണ്.
ഇങ്ങനെ കുടുംബവുമായി വർഷങ്ങൾ അകന്നു ലേബർ ക്യാമ്പുകളിൽ ജീവിക്കുന്ന ജീവിതം മനസ്സിൽ ചിത്തിക്കാൻ പോലും കഴിയാത്തവർ ആണ് ഈ അമേരിക്കൻ പുരുഷന്മാർ. സംശയമുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ അവരുടെ അടുത്തു ചോദിച്ചു നോക്കണം.
എന്നിട്ട് അവസാനം ഇതുപോലുള്ള സിനിമകൾ ഉണ്ടാക്കി "ഇതാണ് കേരളത്തിലെ പുരുഷ സമൂഹം" എന്ന രീതിയിൽ ഇതൊന്നും അറിയാത്ത വിദേശികളെ കോണ്ട് react ചെയ്യിപ്പിച്ചു സ്വന്തം നാടിനെ കരിവാരി തേച്ചു കാണിച്ചു ഓർഗാസം നേടുന്ന കുറേയെണ്ണവും ഉണ്ട് കേരളത്തിൽ..
I remember watching this movie with my brother (separately) and he pressed pause button within 6 mins and ran to my room saying "I can't watch it, it's too real". Coincidentally I had paused the movie for the same eerie feeling. We decided to watch it later with our parents...and they couldn't even sit through 5 mins 😭 we all had same reaction. Probably because the characters reminds us of somebody wk 🤷
90% of Malayalam movies always feel good movie 👏

That husband is none other than Director Basil Joseph who made MINNAL MURALI! Can you believe his acting? WOW. He is amazing. Darshana is one of the female leads of Hridayam which has Pranav Mohanlal. I am pretty sure you would have done a reaction video on "darshanaaaaa" song. She is there in it.

oh my god! the kind of strength you need as a women to not fucking hit every characters in the first half of this movie is HUGE!!...I had to suck my breath so calmy while watching her getting hit.
