    We had a ‘59 Series 62 two door coupe. I passed my driving test in it on the first try, including parallel parking!
    Ours and other ‘59 models were 18.75 ft long. This one is not 22 feet long. It doesn’t weight 7000 lbs. Has the same x frame chassis as other ‘59s. Difference is the tail end sheet metal and the glass, plus, obviously the roof, rear door and whatever sheet metal changes were needed for the floor. There’s not a ton of extra stuff in it.

    Ecto 1 was an ambulance not a hearse. And I know stupid people will say it's the same but you don't put emergency lights on a hearse. Yes it was the same model. And Although you can put emergency lights on a hearse, that would defeat the purpose of it being a hearse.

    This is definitely a case where it’s ok to take restomod license and change things on a classic car. On a normal 1959 Cadillac - particularly the Eldorado Series 62 Biarritz - you’d want to do only a strict chalk mark factory restoration. Which means rebuilding and balancing the factory original 390 and rebuilding the factory drum brakes. But if you’re going to make an MM into an ECTO-1 replica, nothing wrong with an LT1 swap, disc brakes, and air ride. Hope you’re filming the complete tear down and rebuild process - I’d love to watch it from start to finish!

    • @RobertMoseley
      @RobertMoseley  5 лет назад +4

      We are using an "iron block" LS1 out of a truck, with the transmission.
      This car won't be making any road trips, it just needs to be able to start, run and move around reliably in short distances and low speeds, it will be carried in a trailer to most events.
      The original 60 year old engine is usable but hard to start when cold, leaky by design, smokey and old technology. We have lived with our 1960 ECTO for 7 years now and know what it is like to deal with the Cadillac 390, the same engine is in my 1963 Cadillac convertible.
      It always starts, but not without a little help.
      I don't want to have to be jump starting the car while someone is squirting starting fluid every time!

    As a ghostbusters purist I admire your work on that 1960 but will not except an incorrect fabrication, it must be the 59 and I acknowledge that you have an idea what you're talking about but if you are going to do somthing you have to do it right.

      I would return the 1960 to stock and pour all my heart into the 59 if I were them

      @@JacobSeed_2018 There were only 25 of the '59 Meteor Miller ever built, & the Ecto mobiles are limos, so even more rare. Surely worth more than a few hundo.
