I was so disappointed when Nick was announced as the new vocalist, and I gave up on Bloodbath. But now listening to this I would probably still pay to see them live. He sounds interesting, brings a new dimension to the songs. It would just be nice if some of the other members of the band could fill in the higher screams.
Same here. Clicked on this video just to see if anything has changed to good, actually was not disappointed. Surely that's not the rich growl of Akerfeldt or Tagtgren, but it's not bad, and the whole image adds something new to their performance.

Yes. I picked up " Survival of the Sickest" a few weeks ago, and it is a hell of a " grower". I liked Akerfeldt quite a bit and didnt know if I would like a different singer, but I gotta give credit where it is due. Bloodbath is the full meal deal.

Honestly, this has to be the most boring death metal performance ever, didn't even bang my head once. The tempos are fucking slow for Bloodbath with no power and I almost fell asleep with this guys vocals. Martin was the only decent thing

Those awful Boss HM-2 pedals need a really specific mixing to sound good. And generally, swedish producers have a knack for making it sound great on record. But live, there's not enough room for guitar treble, so the pedal just makes the guitar sound really muddy. The problem is less pronounced if you see a concert with Bloodbath/Grave/BAEST or whatever in person and get close to the stage. But you need a shitton of treble for HM-2 bands to sound good live.
Guarantee you, if you download this set to your computer, and then use an EQ to scoop out a little bass and midtone and then crank up the treble, it's going to sound just like you want it to.

Swedish Metal bands are such on a whole different level of etiquete compared to other scenes. I bet the comradeship between the scene is amazing, specially between musicians. So many of them play and come from other big acts. Nifelheim, Watain, Hypocrisy, just to make a few. I could never get tired of Swedish acts. I hope to see Necrophobic one of these days along with Vomitory.
Wtf you on about? 50-75% of the band is still the same, some dudes from Katatonia? The legendary Jonas Renkse (vocals in Katatonia) has been in Bloodbath ever since their inception. He would spend a lot of time with Mikael Akerfeldt and Dan Swanö and they had this idea to form a death metal side band. It has always been members of Katatonia and Opeth + Swanö, hell they even lived together. Unfortunately, Mikael lost his passion in death metal, Dan Swanö and Peter Tagtren are too busy with their jobs and bands/projects. Martin Axenrot of Opeth and Nick Holmes of Paradise Lost are still fully within the ALL STAR bracket.
I like this but the band sounds off. I don't mean Nick Holmes, I mean Bloodbath sounds off. They are missing notes on a lot of songs and just sound.......off. I don't know if they fucked around on the previous two live releases and mixed things better, but this mix is off. I think NIck should have been boosted on vocals. He is a great singer, but sounds so thin here. I love Bloodbath...I really fucking love this band, with any of the singers, and while cool, this concert sounds off.
The sound live, if you was there, was more than amazing.. the modern methods of recording live concerts just suck like hell. They compress it and stuff that it sounds just weak and eh.
Idk if it's just me, but Nick doesn't sound good on either his or Miks lyrics. He has no power in those vocals and he just sounds weird (yyyeah his personal "style")...he fits more in a black metal band than in Bloodbath imo. Not really my taste of vocals overall...

I'm not a fan of Nick, but the audio vocals is excellent. It's a shame that I can't say the same with the instruments :/
The sound live, if you was there, was more than amazing.. the modern methods of recording live concerts just suck like hell. They compress it and stuff that it sounds just weak and eh.

Idk if it's just me, but Nick doesn't sound good on either his or Miks lyrics. He has no power in those vocals and he just sounds weird (yyyeah his personal "style")...he fits more in a black metal band than in Bloodbath imo. Not really my taste of vocals overall...
I agree, his growls are better suited for black or doom metal, no power at all. Remember how great Peter and Mikael were.

To me it just seems like he ruined what Mikael had done with bloodbath, and I really think this brought them down from what they were
