The additional bridges were built due to the multiple court cases lodged by the Merchants association of Thuckalay , Kuzhithurai, Marthandam. Ecological and Environmental surveys were done to satisfy the courts. That caused more delay and more expenses. NHAI and state government are doing their level best. Public should try to understand these matters also, and in future, must boycott the selfish merchants of Thuckalay, Kuzhithurai and Marthandam. It's better to complete all these bridges now itself, otherwise they will cause daily traffic jams like Kanjiramkulam, Vizhinjam, Thiruvallam etc.

Compared to the 2014 original RFP, now they have added 10+ over-bridges and 7 bridges above waterbodies (ponds). That is the reason for cost increase and time delay. In the Kazhakuttam-Karode section there are many junctions (at-level intersection), which will become traffic jams in future. They will need to build more over-bridges in future. We will have to build additional over-bridges in Thottiyode and Putheri, which will become a traffic headache in future. Hope for completion by end-2025 or mid-2026 or latest by end-2026.
