It is a natural geographical site that is both sumptuous and gigantic.The Gorges du Verdon have their source near the Col d'Allos and stretch for about 100 km. In places, their vertiginous depth reaches 750 meters! Its dimensions naturally make it the largest canyon in Europe!
Grand canyon du Verdon) is a river canyon known as one of the most beautiful in Europe. Located in the upper course of the Verdon River in the Alpes Haute-Provence, in the south-east of France (department of Alpes-Haute-Provence). Therefore, the Verdon Gorge is the longest and deepest in France.
The Gorges du Verdon are divided into four distinct geographical areas:
The pre-gorges of the Verdon pass from the village of Castellane to the Point Sublime;
The second part, the Grand Canyon, stretches from the Samson Corridor to Lake Sainte-Croix;
The Gorges de Baudinard begin downstream from the Sainte-Croix dam then cross the sector of the 3 lakes to the Quinson dam;
The Basses Gorges, from Quinson lake to Esparron lake.
