    Thanks. I have been trying to figure out, with respect to functional harmony, why a practical person who creates music care. You have made it clearer why it can be a tool in the toolkit.

    Eye opening as usual. You have a very unique and admirable way of making simple sense out of concepts that I've heard of before but never really understood. Thanks again.

    Excellent presentation; very well explained. De-mystifying concepts one at a time. Music can be a enigma, with it being broken down it becomes less so. Easy going and soft spoken, makes for a pain free lesson.

    Jared, thanks so much for sending me the link to this lesson. This was a light bulb lesson for me! I had no idea that the seven notes served one of three essential functions and the chords within those functions are interchangeable! Now I'm really feeling inspired! Thanks!!!

    Does this also apply to a minor scale? For instance, does the V and VII of a minor scale also act as dominant chords? I can't find this info anywhere

    • @soundguitar
      @soundguitar  2 года назад +1

      Great question! ** It's not the exact same for the chords in minor keys, but sort of, it's just flipped around. If you take all the major scale chords, and take vi, and call that i, and change all the other numbers accordingly, but keep them in their function buckets, then you have the minor key chords and their functions. Plus in minor, V can be turned into a major chord or dominant 7 chord to act as dominant and target i again.

    whats the motivation behind making this kind of videos because your videos are great . i'm just curious no one making videos the way you do on youtube other people would've sell this stuff by making courses.
    also i have a Question how to use borrowed chord and resolve my music?

    • @soundguitar
      @soundguitar  3 года назад +1

      Good question. You're very kind. I'll be selling courses eventually as well, but I will always be committed to providing a free weekly lesson and I try to do the best job I can when teaching no matter if it's free or paid.
