    The stone in the metal casing might be the flint from an old flintlock rifle or pistol. I thing the metal gave the set screw something to bite into without cracking the stone portion. Maybe...anyway.

    You found a musket flint with a piece of lead to help hold it in the flintlock hammer vise. I see where someone else said the same thing. I have dug those in 1780s & 90s Indian Wars period fort sites here in the States.

    I've got the Simplex + but I do prefer my 6mx as the tone suits me better and has just as much Depth 👍

    Is the 6mx as good as todays detectors nokta legend or nox 800 etc

      It certainly is although certainly more straight forward in operation, it's a case o switch on and go.
