I very much agree it was legendary! I'm also both VIP and Army (and others, there's so many great groups and artists out there!) and it felt so huge to see this feature. Two phenomenal vocalist/dancers together was like poetry in motion.
I love this current era happening right now of cross generation collabs, groups, etc. I can't wait to see where things grow from here.

All of us living today are standing on the backs of the people that came before. Same for musicians and singers. I heard about female Kpop groups from my students years ago and then took an interest in BTS after seeing them on US entertainment shows. Not aware of BB until much later. I'm really tired of toxic fans (especially the solos for V and JK). Taeyang and Jimin looked like they were really enjoying working together. It's a good uplifting song. I found this colab very satisfying bc Jimin seemed quite distressed at the Festa dinner about working as a solo artist or without the team. He seems to be doing well. And, while I was aware of BB, and the recent Still Life M/V, I'm now more aware of their work bc of this colab.

Toxic fans are a HUGE problem in the Kpop community. I honestly think most of the people who stir up trouble are in between the ages of 10 to 19, and frankly its exhausting. I will never understand the concept of attacking another group over petty shizz like who paved the way, and who sold more albums. I almost feel like were being held hostage by these people because nothing we do seems to work. Reasoning doesnt work. Shamming them doesnt work, and ignoring them rarely works. Sometimes I have to log when it gets bad because its so embarassing. They dont seem to care that their favorite idols are probably watching and reading a post of you bashing their friend who is also an idol. Honestly, I have no answers. Its getting worse by the minute.

Great video, David! Content, delivery, studio, everything 👍
9:48 is everything. Toxic tweets with no traction getting picked up by KPOP "news" sites... that's not news.
Or, the only news is that, "Someone has deep-seated personal issues that they haven't resolved yet, so they lashed out online."

I was ecstatic when I heard this collaboration was a go and love every aspect of Vibe, it's a perfect example of how collaborations should be done imo. The reactions to this collaboration were immediate, visceral and very much irrational in some cases. I've never witnessed that phenomenon before, purported fans on both sides saying they wouldn't support their own favorite artist on this particular track in order to combat the fandom of the other artist they've partnered with. That it was too great of an emotional burden for them to bear. Attacking artists for statements and career decisions that are theirs alone to make. The idea that toxic fans believe they're entitled to dictate what an artist does and says is pure delusion. I'll never understand that mentality.

Sometimes I think I'm the lucky one having become a Kpop follower only in the past couple of years. I don't know the history of these groups, and don't carry that baggage that seems to be a part of their fandoms. When I heard of the collaboration, I just thought, "Wow, cool!!!" I listened to the song, and loved it! The fandom wars represent human behavior at its worst, and is seen all throughout history where one area, region, country, whatever or whomever wants to dominate and be superior over the other. Why carry this silly need over into music and entertainment is beyond me. Kpop music and the idols are great, fun, artistic, entertaining, and meant to be enjoyed. They're not gladiators and it's not the Roman Colosseum. So, I say to these toxic fans......just chill. Thanks David! Enjoyed the report!

How are you doing David? You look well!! 🙂 All the artists involved look happy and have plenty of nice things to say about each other, so if you trust your faves then just ignore the haters. Cross-generational debates about who did what when is rather pointless. Sadly we live in the era of the rage economy and hate = $$$, so the incentive is there is to drive up the hate unfortunately. 😕 In my circle of friends there are both ARMYs and VIPs, and all of us agreed that between Yoongi, Jimin, and Taeyang; all 3 of them said that they were nervous, so we can give them some grace. Taeyang also mentioned that he had thought about inviting them to his house for a meal, which is a nice gesture too.
None of my friendship group speaks fluent Korean, so we're also relying on what's out there and what translations we can find (and those are not always accurate or have the correct nuance). From what I can gather on the ARMY side, it seems some people were just wary because to them it felt 'a bit too convenient'. The producers gifted the track, Teddy was the one that suggested - in passing - Jimin could be featured, and we're all still talking about "Vibe" right now, as another person was released from serving his sentence earlier this week (the two degrees of separation is bothering people but that has nothing to do with Taeyang). I don't want to invalidate anyone's feelings that the timing can come across as a calculated PR move, but that's what business is. It shouldn't diminish the enjoyment of the song, and the artists that voluntarily agreed to participate in these projects. They're having a good time fanboying over each other, and I think we can all get on board with that. 👍

The way I understand the phrase “paved the way” is when you break down doors and go down a road that nobody has been down and experience all the hardships in order for everyone who comes after you to have an easier time down that said road. I think Big Bang inspired BTS as artists and performers but, I do not think that they paved the way for BTS . BTS did everything differently, they were from a small company and their success was due to them using the internet to promote themselves since it was hard for them to have a breakthrough in Korea and that was something that Big Bang didn’t do . BTS are the first Kpop band that has risen to these heights internationally and have singlehandedly made Kpop popular internationally. They were the first to be on western shows , and the first to win big music awards. They had nobody to refer to about this journey because no other group had done it before them, but because of BTS , other kpop groups have managed to reap the benefits of the world’s interest in kpop without experiencing the backlash because people now know about kpop. Groups like black pink etc were able to see that this kInd of success was possible and would be easier to achieve for them since BTS has already broken the mold . That is paving the way.

Before the release the hate between the fandoms were awful. Army saying they wouldn't listen because of Taeyang & the same for VIPS but after the release it seemed to calm down and I saw a lot of positive comments on how great it was and how they both complimented each other.
I don't stan BigBang but I have never had anything against them and since Yoongis show I saw many army saying "I have a NEW respect since this interview" which pissed me off because why wait for Yoongi to clarify how great Taeyang is.
Army should of trusted Jimin's judgment from the very start.
I'm just hoping that we get another collab between the two soon, they certainly have a great vibe together & by the looks of it Jimin & Taehyang seem to have made a great friendship from this.

I will admit though when I heard Vibe for the first time, I said to myself, "who in the hell is this dude?" He is fire !!!! Love Taeyangs voice. Him and Jimin sound amazing together. I did see the interview with Suga and I thought it was adorable to see how humble Suga was and how he was interacting with Taeyang. Pure respect from both parties. The kpop idols need to stop worrying about what fans think about their interactions with each other. That is the only way things will change.

VIBE is amazing. It’s upsetting to see certain toxic Armys and VIPs using it to re-fuel their ongoing battle. These two artists have mad respect for one another (especially Jimin being a huge fan of Tae/Bae since his early days) and the two fandoms need to respect that and get a grip on reality.
DKDK has always been a great source for everything K-pop and I hope you and Danny (separately or individually) continue with that type of content.

Big Bang inspired a lot of people. Including members of BTS especially the maknae line. Epik High has been influential to the rap line. You don’t see Epik High fans trying to score points. Because it would be embarrassing. Any thinking adults could see that the English translation Big Bang “made BTS” is to be taken accordingly. A junior respecting his senior by giving his senior the respect and the face that he deserve as someone who was in the scene first. What is this glee about? Let the music speaks for itself. If these so called fans are here to boost their own egos using idols as proxies and living avatars, then they should get out of the way. Let the rest of us enjoy the music.

They somehow hated on our boys because they sing/dance to BigBang songs like...as an ARMY I've never had any problem with BigBang cause i already stan them before i even know BTS, I'm not saying this to start a war to justify anything but I've been there during that hard time where all fandom would team up and go against us just so BTS couldn't win. Not all of them are bad but still. Though these new army/fans need to chill with the fanwar. It's getting annoying. I’m ARMY and VIP. Fan wars are such sixth grade behavior. As fans, I think we need to grow the heck up and just enjoy the music. Artists do not exist in a vacuum. It is natural to draw influences from the world around you. Neither artist needs to use the other for clout. They appreciate and respect each other, so accept it and go touch grass or something.

I think some just misunderstood what Suga meant. BB inspired them to achieve their dreams and worked harder. People are still confused what pave the way means. Paving the way means make it easier for other groups. BB paved the way in SK, but not globally or in the US. Kpop only took off after BTS got famous globally especially in the US. Tbh, I started listening to kpop during 2nd gen, but kpop was not a thing in America back then.

Hi I have a question. What is the definition of being toxic in the Kpop world? If you compare with the start of the Trump campaign when slowly the world went spiraling down the abyss, separate comments don’t seem so bad - it is the bulk that makes the difference?

As a VIP the reason I never got into BTS too much is cause every time I’d check them out or see news about them some toxic army would be saying something about BB for no reason. It was hurtful and I stand by that old 2nd gen mentality of the artist and fans should compliment each other. The fans are an extension of the artist themselves as well as the artists should have respect for their fans who listen to their music and buy their albums. This collab made me want to look more at BTS activity on shows and solos to get to know them but now the new flames of war have started to push me away yet again as every time I leave a positive comment about the two groups respecting each other and the fandoms coming together finally I get dogpiled on by toxic army and only other VIP come in to hell no positive army has come to battle against their own toxic fandom.

I personally hope BTS will continue to underscore their global phenomenon by collaborating w/ globally huge artists such as Anderson Paak, Snoop Dogg, Erykah Badu, Coldplay, etc etc etc etc. Unfortunately it has always worked against them to be shrunken down by the West's tiny view of kpop, for example Spotify not including them on their lists by genre, and only putting their songs on kpop playlist. For this reason I don't wish them to collab w/ kpop artists unless it's to fulfill a very specific artistic vision, eg, RM wanting only Youjeen for Wildflower, Jimin honorably fulfilling his promise to collab on With You and obviously thoroughly enjoying working with Taeyang. Otherwise it would be a major leg up for the kpop artist, but for BTS would be like shooting themself in the foot, going in an insular direction and seeming to undo some of their global expansion unfortunately. In the case of a band with a lot of controversy, that would be detrimental to the BTS brand as well. They will make their decisions, and I hope they will make choices that will be rewarding for them artistically of course, but also will also bring even more of the worldwide recognition/exposure they deserve. If I were BTS' management this is the feedback I would give them. I wonder if BTS is pressured/expected by the government to expand kpop to the West; i hope not i hope they are able to have 100% artistic freedom. The reality is that the higher BTS raises the global ceiling, this opens major opportunities for countless kpop artists. most people in the west only know of BTS and recently Blackpink as well. that was pretty much me, i only had heard of BTS in late 2021. at some point heard of blackpink. BTS is known for their global phenomenon, imo they should avoid too many kpop collab's that might pigeonhole them further under the kpop label, this would undo some of how they were able to individuate themselves.

I would love to see Ha Sungwoon collaborate again, his voice is amazing. Plus, he has a RB vibe in some of his songs so he and Taehyung or Jungkook. These guys are not warring with one another, so fandoms should calm the uck down. The toxic messy makers- I wish the universe would reveal their faces and identity to the members they disrespect.
Also, I believe the toxic asses try to sabotage-I feel like VIBE lost some momentum during a time it was getting great reviews and reactions. I think it could have gone further up BB 100, but suddenly seem to disappear. Karma is real. One day the toxic/antis will reap what they have sown. Maybe not getting a dream job they apply for. The girl or boy they like won’t even say hello to them. Parents arrange a marriage to the guy or woman from hades. It’s going to happen.
David you look handsome. Glad to see you back.

      oh, good grief!
I don’t think there’s a person in the world that has any idea if “V” has or even had a girlfriend in reality.
Some of the young ones who problem self army probably do more to hurt BTS than help them.
