Heheh YES mate! 🤘🏻No doubt Thrice have influenced a bunch of the modern metalcore bands. Thrice had a pretty distinctive use of lead guitar layering too that I hear in all sorts of bands now. Great stuff.
Actually it's funny you mention that cause the end of Offworlder the ambient notes played behind the chugs at 3:56 reminded me of The Window by Thrice towards the end of that song
This is going to be one of my AOTY favourites. So much variety. I love how accessible this album is. The addition of digital soundscapes really added so much flavour to their sound. Beautiful ❤
Your reactions vids are some of the best around. It's always fun to see you get into this source material so much so that you basically feel everything, lol. Cheers
They expanded their sound so much with this record, insane musicianship throughout. And Garrett taking over all the vocals with Tom leaving the band is no easy feat either and he crushes the clean singing on this
Silent Planet always played it safe with their records in the past. Every release was just an improvement of what they did before but still the same. They were amazing records but this album they tried new things and I loved every song!!
I wouldn’t call their old style playing it Safe . It was very techy and progressive. It didn’t really catch a lot of main stream listeners attention because it didn’t repeat enough of the catchy parts
@@buffsenpaigaming2703 I meant they stuck with what they knew. I didn't say it wasn't technical or awesome. I love everything they have put out. I just think this record took what they did and then they experimented with new sounds Garrett's vocal performance is phenomenal on this.
@@spinxz_314 honestly mate, they have a definite style and maintain it a decent bit, when you hear the a silent planet song you know its them before any vocals even come on, but the way they've always worked along it whilst making very different sounding music, and that's without even getting into Garrett's absolutely insane and incredible lyrics, the level of thought and meaning put into those are second to none but pure long form poetry.
@@tiagobelo4965 I didn't deny any of that my friend. They are talented but they stuck with that sound and never experimented much. They are beast musicians and do have their own style and Garrett is a phenomenal writer and vocalist. This album hopefully gets them more attention because more people need to know them.
I love the title track so much.... how it goes from some deftones-ish/loathe-ish vibes to this almost shoegazy tune and ends in an almost make them suffer-ish finale. So good.
So many epic (metal core) albums this year, and this has to be right up there. Like you, I am loving the genre-blending - not just with EDM (which seems a popular choice), but with jazz, funk and pop. Loved it!
These guys are always great, SUPERBLOOM is no exception, and that's without even getting into the meaning and symbolism of this album which simply elevates it
keeping it in replies (and hopefully under the show more) so as to not spoil the fun for too many. the album was supposedly inspired by a crash the band had in 2022 where the majority of them were asleep right before it happened, the especially spacey/ethereal sound is inspired by the dazed state felt right afterwards (btw the crash gets referenced in one of the music videos, I'll let ya find that one)
I absolulety love how amazing this album is from front to back. Having both Dan Braunstein on top of the one and only Buster (although I am not a big Buster fan) to produce, mix/master the album is incredible. They are still Silent Planet while also allowing themselves to grow and be outside the box, even though they always have been that band. The reference back to their Everything Was Sound album in Nexus is such an amazing touch or even having the subtle hint of When the End Begins bassline throughout the entire album Then to end the album with the title track....THAT is how an album is finished. Sounds like it belongs on the soundtrack for Interstellar. Anyway, I have gone far too long about this album. it is incredible.
Alejandro Aranda actually dropped a metal album in 2020 called Doom Hologram, very highly recommended it if you like Deftones mixed with symphonic elements
Alejandro (scarypoolparty) is so wildly talented, both vocally and instrumentally. I'm beyond grateful he came in second on American Idol, because he has been able to make some incredible music since then with no strict contract. Now he's doing stuff like this, his side project with Shavo from SOAD, and his own metal album - I love it.
@@earthscorcher Yes all his music is fantastic, and I had no idea he had a side project with Chavo 😮 Alejandro and Charlie Simpson are two of my favorite artists, they can make literally any type of music
Interesting to see what the differing views will be on this album. Where as you had Antimatter as a potential masterpiece, I felt like it was my least favorite out of all the tracks for me. Either way, still a fantastic 10/10 album, probably my personal AOTY at this rate.
Have you checked out the debut album by Night Rider (formerly known as Affiance)? It’s so good. If you liked Kingdom of Giants last album, you’ll love this.
ill be checking this out. i met affiance on warped tour when that was still a thing and i bought one of their cd's to help them out. they weren't even playing the event. glad i stopped to check em out though cause they are awesome. Sad that they had to break up
Glad I’m not the only one who hears a bit of Thrice in Collider haha

Looks like Silent Planet will be making a last minute run towards the top of my most played lists on Spotify Wrapped, that was class!
Hahaha me and you both man

Dreamwalker and Nexus are my two favorite tracks
Just finished the Fear of Fear reaction, on to Superbloom
It’s been a busy ole day! 😅 Honoured to have you joining me through both 🫶🏻
ITS SOOOOO GOOD! Omg what an album! Happy New Music Day 🎊

They've still got that filthy heaviness despite branching way beyond their previous sounds. Amazing album.

When all the singles are so good, and the album tracks are even better. Top tier.

I think I saw you at the Stray From The Path London show tonight. Yeah Superbloom I think is going to be in my top 5 of the year.
I was indeed there! You totally should have said hello my dude! Next time 🤘🏻

i did NOT have silent planet having a feature from a guy that finished 2nd place on american idol on my 2023 bingo card, but that song is AMAZING.
😂

One of the best releases of 2023🤘

I suppose Antimatter is quite a different flavour to the rest. More of a dark industrial electro pop song really. I love a bit o’ that vibe myself.

So glad to hear that I wasn't the only one getting heavy Destiny vibes from this lol
Haha yeah buddy! 🤘🏻
Loathe are great 😝
Many people enjoy them. That is entirely ok. 😁
