I’m at 50k but even with average watch times at 3+ minutes, over 90% likes across the board for my videos, and posting quality over quantity; large growth has not partied with me in a long time. Anything can happen in this world of RUclips, all I’ve kept doing...is not give up. Still learning good tips everyday, so I’m hoping I can get this train rolling again. This is a good video to follow
Went from 0 to 100,000 in about 10 months. I think the biggest thing is editing, content, and the story that I tell. Thumbs and Titles are super important too.
I have a lot of people who come on my channel and say, "OMG I love this! I'm so glad I found you!" So I'm REALLY hoping I'm getting close to more explosive growth very soon. Working on it!!
Thanks. It would be really interesting to hear more about how growth tends to happen. I think that people tend to imagine that it goes in a steady arc. The usual story is that getting to 100 is REALLY slow. Getting to a 1000 is slightly easier (strangely). And beyond that growth just takes care of itself. But that doesn't in fact seem to be general experience. It goes in fits and starts. You can have a period of fantastic growth. And then it drops right off. I am not sure if new channels realise this. And even channels that have had a sudden period of growth can find it difficult to understand why what had been really fast growth can equally suddenly fall away.
That would be an interesting video idea! I have certainly noticed that trend myself. All of a sudden a channel will go from a few thousand subs to 100k in a matter of weeks. Would be nice to know what exactly they did right what the algorithm saw in their videos to suddenly make that happen.
There's not really a common trend for growth, IMO. Some explode overnight. Some persist for years before seeing growth. Honestly, if there's a trend among channels that become successful, I think it has more to do with the drive of the creator.
@@VideoCreators But all of a sudden, the channels that explode, just starting getting 100 of thousands or even millions of impressions on their videos. There has to be some reason for that, no?
On 31 subs and even though it’s not a lot, doing RUclips is still very fun! Gonna keep pushing till i get that 100🌹 hope everyone is doing well and stay safe 🖤
I'm growing steadily and about to crack 2k subs, focusing on self-discovery and self-improvement. The challenge for me is finding the balance between creating content that I'm most passionate about and feel my audience would enjoy, and creating content that is searchable and pleasing the algo. I've made videos along topics that are trending within my niche that have done well (great) but I also don't enjoy doing topics just because they seem to do well in my niche. It's a tough balancing act!
I think that's a pretty common feeling among creators. Personally, I'd encourage you to ditch what you think the algorithm/robots want and go after the stuff you're passionate about. Just make that passion clear so other people who share that passion with you can quickly figure it out and feel connected to your videos.
I'm at 23,000 subs right now (all organic) and just recently realized that I haven't changed things up much in years. So... this year I've stepped out of my comfort zone with filming techniques, editing... and yes, new types of videos. I have a video releasing next week that is a scripted skit... I'm nervous about it, since it is waaay outside of my comfort zone, but I'm also excited because I think it will create that much needed pizzazz 🖤 Thank you for this video!
I love the human element that you are always talking about. I just started my channel and am watching all your videos! You really stand out from among all the other “how to grow on RUclips channels” 😊
That is great insight on rebranding every few years! I've been watching your channels for around 10 years now. I appreciate all the tips and have learned a lot from you.
Love the video and all the points you've made! Been on RUclips for about a year. My biggest struggle would definitely be the thumbnail, but also how to start off my videos to keep the viewer's attention and intrigue them to continue watching.
This is all good advice. Being convoluted is definitely not the hot ticket. I have a hiking and fitness channel and I just recently crossed the 100 subscriber line and that took awhile. But even though I’m small, I’ve started working on branding. This video is still a little above my pay grade, but I hope that I will be there one day.

As far as storytelling, it's come to my attention that I should record my voice-overs(I do tutorial videos)more linearly and listen to them back as I go so they sound more cohesive. You've also gotten me wondering if I should change any of my titles to be more human friendly.
This is a packed video with lots of great content. I’m currently tracking on all this while doing Tim’s 30 days to a better YT channel. It’s all the stuff he talks about in there but an overview. I’m in the middle of transforming my channel with his tasks from it. Great stuff Tim. Just about to hit 1000 and yup, it’s been from keywords.
Oh yes! Guilty as charged - my titles and thumbnails are a definite afterthought! I find it hard as a vlogger. I film whatever happens in the day, edit it and then decide what to call it and how to package it once it's made. I can't seem to bring myself to do things for the sake of filming them, rather than just documenting what I do, or giving my day a theme and 'living' in that theme for the sake of SEO. It's real life and that's not how real life works. I suspect many vloggers have the same problem.

I think I mostly agree with what you're saying and it seems logical, but if what you're saying is true, why do you have so many subscribers and so few views on your recent videos? I'm not trying to diss you, but I wonder if RUclips has changed how it operates and your strategies don't work anymore, cos they don't seem to be working for you, so why would they work for me when I have far fewer subs (obv not on this channel, my other one has 15k)
I needed to hear this today
This helped me thank you😃
