As a fan of the books, I was VERY pleased with the casting of the show. The main characters in particular were perfectly cast. I was disappointed when Barney Harris left, he was perfect as Matt, but I'm holding out hope Donal will step into the role seamlessly. No reason to not think so.

given that matt wasnt a bastard, yeah , not so perfectly cast, not to mention Perrin whos is a BLACKSMITH, his arms would be MUCH bigger than they are

@@Guardian582 I agree a bit on Perrin, he was supposed to be shorter and wide as a house, but I like Marcus in the role, so he's not bad. Barney could only play the role as it was written, he did great with it.

The first thing Ceara says in this video is such an Elayne thing to say!

I love any interview with Donal, he gives the most expansive answers ever. I feel like he needs a podcast

I really do love the cast. I hope they aren't let down by some questionable writing, because I felt they all gave their best and truly care about the beloved characters they are embodying.

It’s lovely to see all of them and the way they relate to their characters. Great questions again!

“Crying in the corner” is a pretty good summation of Perrin in Season 1. Hope he has more to do in Season 2.

Looking forward to seeing how Donal goes tbh, Mat is the greatest character ever penned mate, good luck (pun intended) - Elayne looks and sounds bang on, and Marcus seems to grasp Perrins inner workings. I can only hope the writers do too this time round.

Is that not what Perrin was in the books? I don’t remember him being much different at all lol

@@midnight3630 Different than Season 1?!?!?!?! Ur having a laugh surely lol. Youd be due a re-read mate if at any stage of S1, it feels like Perrin is in the show. Coz it doesnt, and hopefully that changes.

The Pippin change in season one did nothing to develop the character IMO, and really just hurt being able to progress his character arc much at all in the first season.... It just seemed nihilistic like an attempt to be gritty like game of thrones..... For no good reason. It's not that it wasn't a theme he is afraid of and explores in a different way in the books..... It just seemed like a very ineffectual way to do it. Like shooting themselves in the foot in the process....

Don't worry, this show is not made for fans of the books, the showrunner hates the book readers.

Bro grow up and ignore it. I didn't love the first season, probably won't like the second season, but at least I'm not on the internet crying like a bitch.

All these fake fans in the comments praising the atrocious first season that neutered its protagonist into an unlikeable stone faced brat, reshaped the entire premise of the Dragon Reborn, needlessly condensed some of the best mini arcs (or completely removed them) in the earlier books to shoehorn in the show runners original telenovela quality warder bullshit, and absolutely missed the mark on casting, cinematography, costumes and set design. This is just the tip of the iceberg at that. Now they say the second season is going to condense aspects of The Great Hunt AND The Dragon Reborn? Brilliant.

While I agree season 1 was bad. I was rather ok with the casting it felt like they were given a script where they could not succeed. I know a lot of the physical attributes are not book acurate, but it felt like the casting could have played the essence of the charicters if they where paired with competent writers, may that be because of there skill or inability to succeed due to to the production company and directors.
So again, as far as this interview goes, all I have to say is good luck to the actors, and I truly think reading the books and pushing back on any poor changes to advicate for there characters may keep this show alive a bit longer.
