I'm from Long Island and it's actually really sickening to know had I lived during that time I could have been born enslaved. I've actually visited Oyster Bay before too
@@jaysonb.6669 I think it's even more sickening to free a people and destroy any momental progress and implement racially systemic laws in place for 2 centuries; Now that's is sickening and sub human to say the least.
No, because you fail to understand historical context instead of looking through it with today's lenses. Many of those founding Patriots KNEW (from reading their own journals) that they eventually needed to find a way to free & integrate the slaves into society using the rule of law. But you cannot just turn an economy on it's head overnight without collapsing it into famine, anarchy & mass death. Many Irish peasants & servants in America suffered more horribly than plantation slaves. And the African continent was still selling & using slaves long after America & Europe abolished it, even fighting them at certain points in order to be able to keep it.
@Japhya3 I believe you. Growing up NO Black history was taught at my schools. As sad as it is, I had to educate myself. I am also 57 so times were different. I am glad it's changing and I find Black History very interesting.
@Japhya3 I am sorry about that. I was a kid in the 60's but wasn't exposed to any of this. I didn't know what was going on around me. I lived in a white community where my family was friends with the only Black family in the town. I remember the son being picked on really badly and the hateful names, but since I didn't understand the words people used it went over my head. Those words were not used in my house, but I have no doubt it was probably behind my back. You know "not in front of the children". It makes me sad and while I am an older white woman, I have educated myself to the racism and do what I can. It's not much, but it starts somewhere. Again, I am sorry for what you went through.
@Japhya3 facts my family is from the Shinnecock Reservation& as well as the Reservation in Mastic LongIsland and the slave trade was ridiculous on LongIsland🙄 as well as the slaughters and land take overs by Whites. Especially "William Floyd" a huge slave owner .
I don't normally watch your channel. I'm a regular viewer of '"one of the conservative networks"; this slavery you speak of, did that occur here in America?

Enslaving other life forms is a sick practice that's usually perpetrated and carried out by sick and mentally imbalanced people 🤧
So the entire world population? 😂

Happy black history month everyone.

Is the irony of a "patriot" tirelessly fighting for his own freedom while simultaneously depriving someone else of theirs, lost on all but me?
