One of the main reasons the Roland SP-404 sampler is so popular is its effects section which sounds great and is very recognisable. If you’re Ableton Live user you don’t need the actual sampler to get the essence of the SP’s effects.
Just grab this SP-404 FX Rack, map it to your favourite controller and go crazy!
This is an Ableton Live Audio Effect Rack that's great for doing a live beat set or any live performance or for adding some lo-fi vibe into your beats.
I've used the stock Ableton Live devices to create effects similar to the 404's DJ FX Looper, Vinyl Sim, Lo-Fi, Isolator, Reverb, Filter + Drive, and Tape Delay.
This rack is great for live performance and can be mapped to any MIDI controller with knobs or faders.
NOTE: Requires at least Ableton Live 10.1 Standard.

Dope idea! Something similar can be done in Maschine but there seems to be no proper and easy way to distribute it, while Ableton's racks make this really clean and easy.
There is an awesome cat called Turnado by sugar bytes. I just switched to ableton but I issued maschine for years. Turnado has like 200+ different effects or variations of effects

Dope! Ive been using maschine and the sp404 for a while now. Can you integrate the maschine controller to trigger this effects rack the same way we see you using the Push controller? If so I’m def gonna have to get Ableton TODAY! Lol.
Yeah, you can actually. You’ll probably need to do the MIDI mapping yourself though, to assign knobs on the controller to the knobs on the SP fx rack.

Bro, I built the rack myself. Thank you very much. This is lovely. Any idea how to be on the master channel tweaking effects while changing clips? I am using Push 2
Go to Preferences - Record/Warp/Launch - set "select on launch" to off, so that the focus remains on the master channel as you trigger different clips.

Quick Question. using 10.0 so had to recreate it myself. The only thing you didn't show were your Compressor settings for Vinyl Sim. Can you provide them?
Ratio around 5-6, threshold about - 18 and 3-4 db boost on the Out. Everything else is as is set by default.

hey, beginner at this stuff and i wanna ask what the creative use of freeze reverb is? i dont recall you using that specific macro in the demo so i dont really know how it can be applied. is it more of a utility thing?
You can either use it as a part of a live performance to turn a sound (or whole track) temporarily into a reverberated soundscape or you can create a pad from any sound and resample it (a bit more advanced technique). But yeah, it's just a creative effect, just play around with it.

Hmm, if it’s changing without you touching it it maybe a problem with the actual Push. I hope it’s not a hardware issue, but it’s possible.

Do you have the required version of Ableton Live? It won’t work in an older or lower version.
Hi, i created the rack but i don't understand how to use it in the master channel (i made a beat and i want to put the rack in the master or just in my sample track for the lo fi fx). is it possible?
Yeah, you can drag and drop it on any track.

Which effects require it to be Standard and not Lite? Could I make something like this in Lite?
Don’t remember all the devices I used but off the top of my head the Beat Repeat and the Vinyl Distortion are surely not available in Lite.
I baught ur effect rack and its not working !!! Error : File is broken.. ??? I have ableton live 11 so i have the required version. I loaded the zip to my Computer and extracted the files then i tried to load it into ableton but its not working at all sadly. Allso the file is only 28 kb size? Is this real?
Yes, it's real. I assume you're talking about the 404 XL rack? The most likely reason is that you probably haven't updated your Live 11. The minimum required version is 11.1, it won't run on 11.0 as stated in the description.

@@osodan9255 Ping Pong and Simple Delay were combined in one device as of 10.1. You must have an earlier version than that.
@@LowHeatBeats the compression is basically the most important and distinctive part of sp404 vinyl sim, but you didn't mention anything about how you have the compressor set to emulate the signature 404 sound. Could you tell me what the settings would be to compress the whole beat and give it that SP sound ?
@@Dru_Won Just load up the default preset and turn down the threshold to taste (mine is set to about -18 but it all depends on your input levels, I think -18 is a bit too much tbh), increase the ratio to about 5:1. Attack and release at default values. I never went for any specific settings that "emulate the signature SP sound", I just set it how I wanted it sound. Learning how a compressor works goes a long way in this regard.

Lots of people have told me they are using it and it works well, so I guess the issue is on your end. Do you have Ableton Live 10.1?

I paid for the new version and it doesn't work....
It does work, you’re probably using Ableton Live 11.0, while it requires 11.1, as stated in the product description. Please make sure you have updated to 11.1 or higher and get back to me if it works.
