Dollar Bill Hunting for Rare and Valuable Notes

- I'll be searching through $1,000 worth of money ($1 bank notes) from my local bank. 7 of these $100 $1 Bill straps are teller straps. These are straps the bank tellers assemble from customer and business deposits. The other 3 straps are Federal Reserve Straps. I typically have better luck when searching federal reserve notes strapped by the Federal Reserve rather than by the bank employees but I was still excited to hunt through these notes!
We're hoping to find more rare star notes, any valuable old bills, or any fancy or cool serial numbers in these circulated stacks of bills. I hope you enjoy this bit of bill hunting with me.

Among the most sought-after U.S. paper money of the late 1960s are the short-lived "Barr" Notes. The bills feature the signature of then Secretary of the Treasury, Joseph W. Barr. Barr had a relatively short term of office, the shortest of anyone that has held the position (December 21, 1968 - January 20,1969), leading to hoarding of these $1 Secretary Barr Notes. These notes are Series 1963B.

It’s always a nice surprise seeing a star note in my change at stores. My brother got really interested in star notes and gave him a few. Nothing worth much but it’s always so cool to find! Nice hunt!

The one last star note looks like a miscut!❤ AWESOME OLD BILLs! I had $50 straps and $500 worth of them and one strap had four star notes and I ended up getting 15 star notes and sequential order bills and off-center ONE my oldest bill was 1985

I found a BAR note the other day and overlooked it until after the hunt.. just kept it because it was older.. was super happy about that find in circulation.

Rob, the bill searches are getting tougher in my area as well, more people collecting? Although I did manage to find a 2017 F 11511151*, binary repeater star note, not rare but still happy to find it. :)

I was at a coin shop today and someone brought in a star note and was told that modern ones aren’t worth much.
The older ones will bring in big bucks.

I found a star note with a low serial number 5 0s the star note look up said it wasn’t rare and a big run count, but I was curious what you thought about it.
I also found two star notes with sequential serial numbers.

Hey Rob which banks do you go to to get cash straps and coins in general? I've tried a few credit unions and they don't really seem like they want to do it a lot of the time.. and there are a few banks around but they didn't want to neither. I'm confused by that though because what do they do when they just keep it in their vault till Doomsday? Also is it better to be a member of a bank to get coins and cash or does it really matter?

Its unusual to see those old bills from the Fed. They usually shred them after a certain age. Maybe because they are undamaged???

Nice hunt with some nice finds. I found some notes this past week too, a 1969D, 1985, a fun serial number note of 76008008 when flipped gives you the calculator word of BOOB or BOOBOO, and a 4 pairs $5 36883655. Those 1993s are pretty impressive, and really awesome to find sequential, as they all are fairly short runs with the 1995 made so shortly after they produced the 1993.
That 1978 birthday note was only one day off of my birthday wish it was 19780226.
