"Almsgiving Delivers from Death”: Charity to the Poor Considered Theologically
In Second Temple Judaism the practice of charity towards the poor assumed a structural significance parallel to that of offering a sacrifice in the Temple. This lecture traces the origins of this revolutionary idea in the Bible and its groundbreaking ramifications for the development of Jewish and Christian piety and practice.
Sponsored by the School of Theology and Ministry and generously supported by the Kitz Family in honor of Richard J. Clifford, S.J.

Excellent discourse on alms giving and charity. I believe that if we congregants would give our alms to the poor the gov't would not be
obliged to do this work of the congregations.
