It’s awesome that you where able to choose her math!!! That’s how timers should be used!!! Nothing wrong with having extra stuff just in case!!! History is not as needed at this age so don’t worry that you may not do enough!!! We started independent school with my older kids at this age!!! Last year we did a ocean science as a family with my younger kids in mind!!! Don’t worry about science if she’s doing it at co op!!! Don’t burn yourself out!!!

Well plans changed at co-op, so she is not doing science now. LOL. But I really think this science is going to be pretty simple yet still really beneficial. And we love history around here! It's one subject they don't mind doing. LOL. Thanks for sharing your experiences!

Excited to hear more updates on Mr. Q science. I’ve looked into it a bunch but that may be something we use in the future

We used Zaner-Bloser Handwriting for cursive this year, and we really liked it! I like the look of the letters they teach.

Mr Q's life science might be a perfect add on to Mystery Science for my 4th grader! Do you know if it's secular? Thanks for sharing this resource!

It appears to be secular to me. Everything I looked through looked clear, but the website does not specifically say.

I was looking into Mr. Q's science and really like it for my daughter. But we are going to be moving overseas and see that it doesn't come with a lab kit option. It's unfortunate because we both really like the way it looks!

That could defiantly be an obstacle! Hope you guys find something that works well for your family!

@@Homeschoolology Thank you! I think we are going with Nancy Larson Science instead.

I've got a rising 5th grader too. We're going to be using Hearth and Story and Fix It Grammer for ELA, History Quest and Crash Course for History, Physics Level 1 from Real Science Odyssey. But math we're still trying to figure out. I've been curious about Micheal Clay Thompson because a lot of people seem to like it, but I have a reluctant writer so I'm not sure. Might have to add Word Roots. That looks interesting

Love Fix It! Grammar! My oldest uses it. If you decide to try MCT know that the grammar portion is very similar so you would not need both. We haven't done too much of the writing yet, but level 1 is only sentences and level 2 is only paragraphs, so I don't think it is too difficult. We have very reluctant writers here too. I don't worry about it too much. They will learn how to write when they need too.
If it's the actually handwriting part that they don't like, try having them type things out. Or even using the dictate feature. I've found that helps get thoughts on paper for my reluctant writers. Hope you guys have a great year!
