We started Denison Algebra 1 this past year during 8th grade and I LOVE it because my kid tolerates and actually does it with relative ease--same as what you said about your kiddo, I think he just doesn't really like anything but he dislikes Denison the least, ha. Also--glad I found you! We are long-term Brave Writer users and love it, did Curiosity Chronicles and Big History Project in middle school and loved them, and love Critical Thinking Company materials and are tentatively planning on using their critical thinking detective workbook this year if we get to it (we're going to do Julie Bogart's new critical thinking workbook first). So everything else you suggest because you like, I think maybe I should check out since our kids seem to be similar in style. :) Thanks for being here and sharing!

I’m excited to hear what she thinks of Denison. It’s been a lifesaver for us. I also just started Write by number with my son. He’s a very dyslexic, and dysgraphic so he’s a very reluctant writer. Surprisingly it’s going really well so far. I think it helps that with each stage he can add on to the paragraphs he’s already written.

Oh and FYI Guest Hollow has a free biology curriculum that uses CK-12. I’m looking at it for my son. I love that they have everything scheduled for each week, labs included.

I'm excited to for her to try Denison too! That's really nice to hear about Write by Numbers. I'm hopeful. Thanks for sharing!

I've looked over it. I do think it could be a solid choice, put I want something that covers evolution. I know I could add it in. But Guest Hallow for the most part is not secular, so I choose not to include them in my options. Thanks for sharing though! I'm sure it would work for others.

We are about to go into our 8th homeschool year if I’ve counted right!!! Denison math sounds good!!! It’s hard when a kid doesn’t like a subject!!! My homeschool advisor told me in high school grammar is onli review so only do if needed!!! Each state has different requirements tho!!! We’ve been doing CK - 12 for math and my kids love it, we supplement with it!!! Nothing wrong with high schoolers learning thru activities!!! We do!!!

The math is tricky! I always second guess myself. LOL.
I'm excited about Denison. I hope she likes it.
Good to know about Math with CK-12 as supplement!
Activities help so much with reluctant learners!!
      Thanks for sharing!

Hey you tried ctc math? If so, what were your thoughts? We use that and I have much younger kids. My oldest is in 5th grade but we've liked it because the lessons are short, but I always wonder if there's something better.

We did the trial of CTC Math with my 5th grader. She did like it, but not any better than Khan Academy. So we choose to stay with the free option. Thanks for sharing the resource!
