My old hometown of NYC had its first permanent TV station premiere on July 1, 1941 as WNBT later known as WNBC TV ch. 4 . And it is still in business.

They used to broadcast 24hrs a day. They should put classic tv shows on after 1am.
In the 1988 40th anniversary special, they showed a little bit more footage of the present day studio construction.
So glad to have spent a portion of my youth watching WGN-TV from Garfield Goose to Creature Features, it was a magical time.
