The P3 and P7 versions of the 8x30 have identical optical specs listed on the Nikon website, including the 8.7 degree FOV (which is why I'm considering buying these) AND brightness index, contrary to your suggestion that the P7 has a brighter image due to its phase correction and dielectric coating. The P7's more advanced coating no doubt provides some incremental optical advantages over the P3, but for budget-level binoculars, I can't imagine it's worth a 40% price markup ($130 for the P3 vs. $180 for the P7). I could be wrong, though. It would be helpful if you could post a review comparing the two models directly, based on optical performance observed during actual use.
I’ve the P7 8x30. Very clear, pops the subject into HD and stable image. These are my first pair of proper/good binos. I used to wonder what all the fuss was about as I only ever had cheap unbranded ones before. What a difference these make. I use mine for bird and nature watching on the trails.
Thanks for the video. I’m trying to decide between the 8x30 or 10x42, both P7. I was hoping you would do a comparison of the size of each. I know the 10x42 will give better range and a brighter image but I’m worried they might be a little too big take take with me on hikes, travelling etc. Any thoughts?
@@MrRadgo There isn't much difference in terms of sharpness. Although the P7 gives you a little more sharpness. I have the P3 and it works for what I need.
I just purchased a pair of nikon P3 10x42, when I was at the store I tried 3 different pairs of binoculars, they were at a higher price and too me the P3 had the best picture.
The wider field of view may perfect for landscape and flying butterflies.......only wonder if the edges are blurry? Thanks for the tip!! ( taling about the cheaper version)
are you comparing apples to apples?! would be helpful if you compared the same specs of each and talked about how they're different for the difference in price. for eg, should i buy the p3 10x42 OR the p7 10x42?
I first bought the 3s and thought they really sucked and sent those packing then immediately bought a P7 and wow what a night and day difference in optical clarity wasn't even close.
First bought the older 3s in 10x42 and thought they really sucked and then bought the P7 10x42 what a night and day difference they're not even in the same league.
Thanks for the review. I bought 2 pairs of the P3 10 x 42 for our trip to Canada and cruise to Alaska. We’re casual users and hoping to spot and watch whales and bears with these. I didn’t want to over-purchase on specs and wanted them to be compact and durable for travel. Got a great price for them online, £50 cheaper than John Lewis.
Thanks for your video! I was considering both the P3 and the P7 and popped over to youtube and your video was perfect content and timing to help me decide. Thanks!
Heard Nikon going out of business soon after they quit honoring their lifetime warranty on their scopes and screwed over hundreds of thousands if not millions of their loyal customers so are they planning to discontinue their binoculars and no longer honor their lifetime warranty as well?
They are small, but definitely premium for the price-point. I originally bought the P3, gave it to my daughter, and bought the P7. Both feel nice, and have smooth focus movement.

So what's the difference between the two? You give us no answer
Exactly! The review was beautifully done, but there was no comparison! Lol
P7 have a dielectric coating and water repellent coating. The P3 has "only" a silver coating.
@@Eddiewalkerprconclusion? Better picture?

which model has a cleaner and more stable image view, Nikon 6x15 micron or Nikon 8x21hg ldcf?

Anyone can compare them to the 3S? Does an upgrade make sense, when I have a Prostaff 3S?

Is there a tripod mount on the binoculars?
Yes

Thank you for updating and reposting this review. I'm not sure if my comments on the original had anything to do with it. Cheers!
Thanks Jay for your comment before 👍🙂
Tale me please! Which binocular i shuold buy for birding on leasure times? Love from India.
thanks, this review was useful!
would liek to see a review on the 10x42
Hey , is p3 fully multicoated ? Or only multicoated and is the image quality same as p7 ?
P7 have a dielectric coating and water repellent coating. The P3 has "only" a silver coating
Seems better than the predecessor (the 7S)
They don't have ED glass
Correct. For that, Nikon has the Monarch line, but they are much more expensive.
