First time I've seen one of your videos and though I normally tune out (get bored?) during "learn to play" style videos, you've got absolutely perfect pace and diction, and I was riveted for 22 minutes straight. Lovely work!
Great tutorial! I would have never looked at a game in such a big box, but with such a good overview of the mechanics, you’ve peaked my interest. I’ll have too keep an eye out for this one.
As someone that fell out of love with Warhammer Underworlds, this skirmish game has been a similar but more enjoyable experience for me over the past several months. I think the rule that requires players to discard their hand at the end of each round will remain a divisive one, but I also think it's why I enjoy the game so much. In SFB you should always just make the best play you have with the cards you have available, and that kind of gameplay really speaks to me.
This was my favorite KS from last year! I can't wait for the new KS coming out this month with 9 more characters. It also got me into painting minis for the first time! Love it and so do my kids.
I think it's about time we see the Box flipping bloopers reel. Not that any videos would be on it. I'm sure Ronnie flipped every box first time everytime. I guess in that case it would just be a box flipping compilation video. Either way I'd watch it
@@WatchItPlayed touche good sir touche! To be fair, I was thinking the blooper would be that you caught the box upside down. Not so much that you dropped it
Just curious, what happened to the time stamps to the various parts of the tutorial? They were extremely handy and convenient, but I understand if they Arnt there bc they were time consuming or anything like that. Cheers!
They are still on the videos, but it takes a few days before they get posted (it takes time to do them). If you look at our last several tutorials, you'll see they are there.
I have a quick question for you. If you already have a champion "out of action" and at your gate, and another one of your champions end up "out of action" while you already have one at the gate, what happens? (In other words, would do you do if effects from the game cause you to have 2 champions at your gate at the same time?) Also, for the game itself, is that the biggest board game box you're received so far in a while, and is that big size standard for a lot of miniatures-type games? Otherwise, nice video, and good luck storing that box. Maybe it could stay on that shelve so that you can notice it more. Now if only they could have turned that box into a built-in table or use the box as the board itself like your last tutorial video. (Maybe board game boxes being used as tables could be a good idea for developers to do in the future, if that's possible.)
Dont have the rules in front of me, but it essentially the “gate” can hold as many champions as necessary. Personally, I find it easiest to ignore the gate concept altogether and just think of it as “For this Champion to interact with anything (get back onto the board), it needs to Move 1 first” Hopefully that helps! Cheers!
The term "Gate" is mostly for thematic purposes. You could even keep your pieces off the board entirely, if you wanted. It's certainly one of the bigger boxes, to be sure :) I believe the newer retail version of the game will have a smaller box. This is not a standard box size for miniatures games. I would say this one was larger because the miniatures are also larger than most minis-styled games.
@@WatchItPlayed So, any number of your champions can be "out of action" at anytime, since the gate is not really a set space that only 1 champion can be on at a time, right? Also, I can see how the game box is big. It's a lot bigger that other board game boxes I seen in a while. If you do end up getting the round 2 of this game, maybe in a few years, you can do a tutorial on whatever's new in that set. And speaking of the box, will it be staying on that current bookshelf where it is in the video, or are you putting it in its own space something else due to the size of it, since it was hanging off your shelf a bit, which might hint it is too bug for that current bookshelf. (And it also shows how the box is much larger than most of the other games on your shelf.) Just to ask too, what's the standard size of miniatures in most games in whatever size they measure them it, and how much larger are the ones in Fantasy Super Brawl (statues and/or champions) compared to standard size miniatures in other miniatures games?
@@danielschaublin 1) Yes. 2) It will be going to a different shelf where I put long boxes. 3) I have the game put away, and I'm not sure when I'd get around to unboxing it and measuring minis for you, but traditional minis games are around 28mm. www.quora.com/What-scale-size-are-Warhammer-40k-models
3:10 challenge card setup you say to only place one card face-up, but on page 6 of the rule book it states in section 4 of setup to place two challenge cards faceup instead. Can you or Mythic confirm which one is supposed to be correct? For context, I very much prefer starting with only one challenge card because I think there's a huge problem with first player advantage when you start with two. Starting with two means that the first player has an opportunity to dash for 3 of the 5 victory points at the start of their second turn, a massive head start that is difficult to overcome.
Picking this up today finally! Quick question, do the big statues come in the retail edition? I wasn’t fortunate enough to catch the kickstarter. Thanks for the teach!
@@WatchItPlayed Not before I picked up my copy. The answer is no. No sweet statues in the retail edition. Did get a chance to play once and it was a blast. Lots of keywords but all fairly intuitive.
@@WatchItPlayed dont worry, i have researched it. The Energy is only reset at the end of your turn. So if your second and use energy in the first players turn to defend you wont have this energy at the beginning of your turn. Same will be for the first player if he uses energy during the second player turn. Going first seems to be very powerful in this game. Your able to go all in in your first turn dont have to worry about blocks since it would be a disadvantage for the second player to use the energy. Also you can setup nicely to score the first victory point by objective in round 2
