I’ve heard it said before and I agree: Ibanez does the most experimental and forward-thinking within it’s bass instruments. They should bring this same energy to its guitars.
@@gabrielrioux2289 it’s relatively experimental for a major company to do this, extra long scale basses are very niche instruments, it’s experimental in terms of bringing it to a larger market and taking that risk, not in terms of the design itself.

The bass it amazing. The only drawback was the top edge of bass where you rest your picking hand. It is a fairly sharp edge and took time to get used to.
@@jjluke2011 A few weeks ago I bought my 5 string version of this with the cerulean aura burst matte finish from a company in Brooklyn, NY called Focus Camera. The transaction was done through Amazon and FC handled everything else. They're still in stock as I type this. The box had Ibanez factory tape on it that hadn't been cut, so it hadn't been opened out of the factory and it also arrived in perfect condition. I already own 2 Ibanez, 1 BTB even. But this also looks good and has the exact specs that I want. Hmmmm. >_< Honestly, years ago, I said: No company is making a bass with specs I'd like for under 2000 bucks ... and I was wrong.
Finally, Ibanez puts out a contra-bass that can keep up with a baritone Ibanez. Heck, that bass could do drop F#. I'm not into unison, where a bass tunes up.
I've seen kallium make a super long scale bass going up to 40 inches. Wonder if Ibanez will try that out one day especially since their customer service and quality are miles above kallium.
When I was 17 I went from a starter bass (fender) to an incredible Ibanez. I realize with the help of videos like this that its awesome sound was wasted on a poser like me.
Obviously function is the most important, and yes this bass sounds great and probably plays great. But good LORD it is sexy looking. even if thats all it had going for it, it'd be one drop dead gorgeous bass
I have this bass and I love it!!! The only problem is I can’t get strings for it. Every time I think I have the right size strings they end up being too short. Does anyone else have this problem?
I hope one of these companies makes a multi-scale bass with the $500 range soon. Can't afford this or a Dingwall but they are what everyone is using these days.
Well, with economic analysis, it would be possible for these companies to reduce the prices to that range if they find ways to lower the costs of production while still staying true to the key design components. Problem is inflation is causing everything to be more expensive and exactly 'when' it'll reach that price range is now even more uncertain.
Cort has good basses collection in the Artisan series. Not too pricey but I m not sure their bass catalogue has any multi scale instrument. Though they have multi scale 7 string electric guitars priced around $400. Mahogany body built.
I wonder if the upper strap horn is close enough to the 12th fret that it balances ok. seems like the lower frets could be difficult to reach but it sounds good.
It balances fine. The only drawback with this guitar is the spot where the picking hand wrist lays. It is a bit sharp rather than tapered like my SR500e.
They are better than a dingwall but I’m a fanboy admittedly I probably would have one if Ibanez didn’t make this bass but a 3 pickup dingwall starts at 2500$ and forget about picking a color you want at that price
i got one of theses in drop F# and sometimes drop E and its killer man, cause why the hell would keep it in B when a 34 scale can handle that very well
The bass is looking kick-ass best for metal ibanez nailed it 🤘 but didn't understand what is this T1 Picup is this is a proprietary picup by ibanez or this is a branded picup ?
Hey ibanez, why was the body style changed in the btb series? The upper body horn on the neck through used to meet the neck at the 22nd fret but on the modern design the upper horn mates at the 18th fret.
@@mymodel6thanks for the correction. I use swipe typing on my phone but it's funny how predictive text has misspelled words. It looked correct at a glance.
I bet you don't understand a lot of things.. 37" scale length is working perfectly fine for a low B equipped bass, why go any longer? A 4 string bass should be tuned to concert pitch and strung accordingly, thus 34/35" scale length is perfect, if you want a low B, get a 5 string, six string basses only add a higher string so dont need the extra scale length, are you still confused?
I’ve heard it said before and I agree: Ibanez does the most experimental and forward-thinking within it’s bass instruments. They should bring this same energy to its guitars.
