Parry's Corner. Because it bear the postal code - Chennai 001. It connects every part of the city. you can find buses to any part of the city from here. It has major government buildings. Ask your grand parents, they will tell you its parrys is capital of chennai.
I liked Tambaram's attitude the best, in this video. :D Although I was born and brought up in Anna Nagar (and I love it so dearly), I vote for the town area (Parrys), since that was what originally defined Madras.

Most populated area in the city with beach station as its railway station. populary know as george town from the british rule is now known as Parrys. Broadway bus stand the second largest bus stand in the city. Beach, colleges, schools everything accessible and in walkable distance so beach pleaseee parrys's the CAPITAL
Its funny to see the outsiders who got settled in so called southern Chennai and deciding the capital area... North Madras is the real madras... those people are the native citizens of madras... to be honest the whole north madras is the capital for the Chennai metropolitan area...! try to respect the native people of this great city..!

+yuva raja Thambi Mayilvaganam, I agree that Natives make up most of the North madras populace. But that doesnt mean that the central and southern part of Chennai are native-free. In fact, when the whites were camping for a small hamlet with proper accessories to their aid, they chose Mylapore (at that time, it was the most developed and had a large population).

mylapore easily, one of the older areas + beach + famous temples/mosques/church + whatnot! Most important areas (except probably anna nagar) are all reachable as well !
Although I have never really stayed in Chennai ,the few times i have visited has given me great memories ..every place has its uniqueness which is undisputedly fascinating ...but i personally feel besant Nagar and Anna Nagar would definitely be a good choice as a capital of Chennai..definitely not sowkarpet ..nd the big apple joke ...good one...had a great time watching your video.
