You're the first channel I've found that shows what this can do to make actual music and not just random noises. I know synthesizers make random noises...I wanna find the best to play music with. So thank you
Thank you! 😊 I really appreciate your feedback. Yeah, that is what I love about synthesizers, they can go from crazy far out alien sounds to beautiful melodic sounds and back again. Lol They are incredibly versatile and can offer a wealth of sounds that can't always be achieved by traditional instruments. 😎 Glad you enjoyed the video. 👊🙂

Yes !! Got the voca keys a few weeks ago, your videos conviced me :) The only problem is the lack of step recording on the sequencer like the volca bass. but you can use the active step and still make programmed melodies... I'm glad
+SnackbarDreamer // Paul Sweet! Congrats! :) The Volca Keys is a great little synth. Step recording would be a nice feature! Like you said though, the active step function is a decent work around for this. Have you synced it up with some other volcas yet? Lots of fun :D
littleBIGsynths Indeed, with bass and the beatbox of my Yamaha psr 220. I'm new in the hardware stuff, but you videos are excellent for beginners like me: they are creative, and show us how to keep it simple ;)
I really appreciate the time and effort you put into these vids. Sometimes when one puts out something like this, there aren't any comments, and one can feel under-appreciated. But you have helped 83,000 people! And five thousand of them have subscribed! That's a WOW! Like you, I really like messing around with synths. I have 17, mostly little like my 5 Volca stack and two Monotrons. My fave is the Novation Ultranova, which is fantastic for a cheap price. They are all 2H and I went into debt to get them - I am on a pension, and here you can ask for a small advance. My neurological disorder prevents me from playing. Your video shows me how I can use them without great keyboard ability. Your tutorials will carry over into my public performances for fifty people and the music I release. Thank you again so much.
I was irritated to death by mine..and then I played it via MIDI from a full sized keyboard through a Zoom MS70...and WHHHOOOAAAA!!!! This this is amazing! How did I not realise it before?
Yes! Thank you for this in-depth tutorial in how to actually CREATE great sounding transportive music with only a few devices. People get it all in there head that there is always a massive music arsenal needed to create awesome music. Your display right here obliterates that notion. tnx man. Great stuff.
The vBass has always been the least inspiring for me, BUT when I do get it into a jam... it's always soo awesome! 😁 The vKeys is really great. Totally worth getting back to it. 😉 Have fun and thank you for watching! 👍
The Keys is my favorite Volca of four, basically for the same reasons you mentioned! It can be subtle and huge and everything in between, especially with some added effects. I also wanted to say your jam at 10:15 rocks!! :)
agree...it such a capable little machine and when accompanied with an fx machine and motion recorded it is a satisfying synth ( as you both mentioned)...one wish it had patten link option like the FM, another fave of mine. Thank you.
Niceee! 🙂 Well, at least you held on to one! Yeah, the vKeys and vBeats were my first 2 volcas; then added the vBass and Sample. Sold the vBeats and never looked back. Lol Now o also have 2 vModulars, a vFM, and a vMix! Love them all! 😁
Haha Thanks! :) The volcas keys is a really wonderful little synth and it is pretty inexpensive as well. ... Even more so if you get one second hand! ;)
Nice landscape on your tattoo! People so many things but rarely a landscape and it has its feeling of a world in itself, or like a Time Machine showing how Pompei looked back in the day!
Thank you very much! :) Yeah, it's a great little synth if you give it a chance. Lol Yeah, they can be found second hand all over the place at great prices. Totally worth another shot. ;)
Great video and sound. It's frustrating that Korg doesn't mark Volca knobs so that we can clearly see where settings are at, especially in low light. This is the reason why I loaded new knobs (covers) onto all 6 of my Volcas.
I agree with Luke and others. We all know they make noises..we wanna hear how to make them sing!! Wow...excellent video. The best I have seen. Actually better than the KORG video imho. Well just today I have ordered the Keys, Bass and Beats. I was unaware about the sampler and didn't know you can put drum beats into it. I need to gen up on how samplers work. I can see with time I will get the whole nine yards but first off I need to learn how to use one at a time. Please do more vids on just one Volca at a time so we can see how it's done. Oh and by the way... Thank you!!! Pete
my god. I was browsing back and forth looking into this synth, very late did I find this gem. So many awesome creative ideas hidden in this "opinion/mini review".
I love this synth so much. When the Volcas debuted, I was the least interested in this one and the most interested in the Beats. Now in 2017, I use my Keys all the time. I love the poly ringmod mode for really whacked out distorted lead lines. Good video!
Thanks! 😊 Yeah, I feel like it's much more enjoyable for me to present them in ways I would actually use em. So, quick little jams always help put things into context. 👍 Glad you enjoyed the video 🙂
Came for the reasons, benefitted from the tutorial - This is on my list next to go with a drum, bass and fm- learned so much that i can't wait to pick one up now.
I totally agree about sound. It’s got a nice raw, primitive sound. I want to explore more Boards of Canada type stuff on it. If you are a fan of their stuff (Music Has the Rights to Children, Geogaddi, etc), I would love to see a series on getting those sounds. Also, there are bazillions of BoC synth headz our there so you would pretty much be guaranteed tons of hits. :)
+murahachibu I haven't really tried listening to them yet. I hear about them all of the time in the synth community. I will look into it and see what I could do. Thanks for the reccomendation. :)
littleBIGsynths Cheers man. One of my favorite bands ever. Definitely check out the albums I mentioned. Lots of cool “easter eggs” in their albums as well, worth doing a bit of googling.

I love it too - I describe it's sound as a little ragged, occasionally downright hairy, which for me is the real joy of analog. I've never regretted purchasing any of my Volcas!
Damn I’m so frickin happy!! I just bought this and waiting for delivery. I wanted to make retro analog sounding music, kinda like French 79/Air. It’s JUST what I wanted ❤❤❤
Please just make the phenomenal sequence at 03:33 into an actual song. It's been on my mind for ages and I keep coming back to this video just for it. It's absolutely brilliant.

Thank you! 🙂 Congrats on picking up some Volcas. They are really awesome and so much fun. The vFM and vKeys are great; I love em both. Grab a Volca sample or Drum next... and you'll have even more fun! Lol 😉
+ICE JOO Thank you! :) I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, it is often overlooked because it is a cheap device... But it is totally capable of creating some nice, interesting sounds. ;)

i agree , my fav volca. I use the Keys in poly mode with other synths using a Kenton midi through box. I pass it through a mixture of FX pedals and - as you said - it does cut through the mix in a raelly pleasing way. The Osc's are really good for a £100 synth. =) nice vid (=
I have all 6 of the Volca's. Their very cool; now I have to figure out how to use them. I haven't tried linking in to it with Korg PS60. I'm not a musician, but I just had to have them. I also have the Korg Monotron Duo and the Korg Monotron Delay.

Thanks for showing how it can sync with a pocket operator too. Loved those spacy tunes you were bumping around the 10-minute mark.
Thanks for the video, out of interest when using the keystep to sequence the keys, is there anyway of still enabling the half/quarter play modes and the flux mode, as presently when I try putting these on when sequencing through the keystep they have no effect. Thanks
littleBIGsynths . Thank you 😊. I got the Korg Volca Keys !! . I’m new to synths as I am a guitar player really. And wow there is so much to learn. I wanted to experiment with new and different sounds. Keep up the great work with the tutorial/review videos 👍
Wow! I feel like a total fumble fingers with my Volca Keys, but this gives me real hope and a new understanding about this magic little box! Thank you.

Thanks for the video, out of interest when using the keystep to sequence the keys, is there anyway of still enabling the half/quarter play modes and the flux mode, as presently when I try putting these on when sequencing through the keystep they have no effect. Thanks
