Sorry everyone. I've been slacking lately. Here's another upload to let you all know I'm alive.
Program Notes:
Written for the 7th Annual Sigma Alpha Ioda Composition Competition
The Hydra is based on the Greek mythological beast. Story goes, every time you cut off the hydra’s head, two more grow back in its place.
The Hydra is a rondo using one central main theme and three supporting themes. Every time a new theme is introduced, it must be combined with the other themes, just like as a hydra’s head is cut off and more replace it. Only after all four themes have been exposed and played one final time as a fugue, is our hero finally allowed to conquer the beast, and slay the hydra.
