Thanks for talking with Mike, John. Level 42; great band. World Machine; classic album!
Level 42, always underrated and underappreciated in the U.S. Great band with fine albums. Excellent musicianship.
42 has just a phenomenal catalog of music ! So glad they made it big. Always need my weekly dose. The musicianship/writing is just top notch .
I'd say that Running in the Family took the World Machine formula, and perfected it. Especially on tracks such as "It's Over," "Freedom Someday" and "Sleepwalkers."
The best version of the World Machine lp is the UK version that includes the tune "I Sleep On My Heart"...
......'Leaving Me Now'.....is a masterpiece of production and art in performance..it is a real motherf------..........
Yeah that's one of my favorite tunes from the band....John
I used to see Mike quite often around Wimbledon back in the day. Great musicians, great band, great album.
Great observations on World Machine, John, and I largely agree. I remember seeing them open for Madonna at the CNE in Toronto and then finally seeing them headline at MLG probably a couple of years later.
Mike uses a guitarist called Alex Hutchings you should interview him, he's awesome
❤
Sound on the intro isn't the best today.
