      i should have seen this earlier.I bought 67w thinking about more view range but the quality of the video is really shit ,not even capable to see a number plate when you cross a car.Has to be right in front of you....really disappointed...

      I am using the 57 for my front cam and I bought the mini and using that for the rear. So far everything is working well and I like the video resolution. With the Garmin app I like that it will show you both camera views. I have had them up and running for about 6 months now.

      yes, the image quality, more precisely the detailing, for example, of car numbers, is really better in 57. But you do not take into account such a factor as the angle - look at the difference 00:47

      Yea the 67W view angle gives it a fishbowl effect. 57 is way better!!!!

    Provided a better review than some 'fancy' RUclipsrs and never said a word! For my needs, I believe the 57 is the best choice. Which is what I purchased. I like the idea that I can add another camera for the rear of the vehicle at a later date without having to repurchase the entire system.

      I agree this is a good review. This video convinced me to purchase the 57 as the front camera and switch the Garmin mini 2 to the rear which is being working for me almost 2 years no problem, With decent video except capturing license plate in motion

    THIS was an AWESOME video & helped me decide on the 57 over the 67 based on the footage you provided. I had the 67 in my shopping cart & this video instantly changed my mind - for my specific purpose the 57 has the best image. The 57 is being delivered tomorrow along with an OBD to USB female charger adapter, the suction cup mount & a San Disc 256GB Extreme micro disc. Thanks for doing this video !!! 🙂

    Based on this video I choose Garmin 57 bought with the polarizing filter and I am very satisfied with the choice made.I also wanted to buy permanent power cord for OBD II and Garmin offered it to me for free.Pleasant surprise from Garmin.

      @@brettking2 Because the 140 degree the footage quality îs better. Because 67w has 180 degree the polarizing filter doesnt work.

    Thank you for this! I already bought the 67w and thought I got a bad unit due to the video quality, but it looks like yours is the same. Gonna return it and get the 57 instead.

    i did not realize the wide angle lens on the 67 would make it so much worse than the 57. the 57 does seem to have a brighter image meaning it could potentially bloom making the video hard to see here in florida during the day time. I might buy both and return the worst one after testing for my area

    At $150 the 47 it’s prob the best overall, your paying $60+ fir the 57 ($210) for a *little* better quality (not being 4K) it’s just not worth it.

      The 57 is 1440p which is 78% higher resolution than 1080p.

    The 67w might be worth it if it had a higher resolution, but it doesn't, so the wideview ends up reducing details & picture quality.
    It looks like 57 wins of you actually want to capture license plates.

    I think 57 and 67 are basically the same the only difference is that the 67 is 180fov which doesn’t help much for quality video.

    I bought the 47 because Love's doesn't carry any other. It'll do the job to prove a scenario and as an addition if I buy another garmin dashcam ti pair it in the rear and new in front.

      You can use auto-sync via the app and use another 47 or 57 dashcam for rear or interior recording.

      @@JohnnyAppleseedGPSStKilda Thank you, the mini would work as well I'm guessing? I'll probably go with the cheapest available Garmin then for a rear/interior combination since it's for a pickup truck and the rear window is so close.

    The problem with 67W is its too wide angle camera, it worsens the legibility of the license plates.

    How does the parking mode work? I heard it strains ur car battery’s over time

      It would eat into the battery, yeah. I would only use it sparingly (busy car park, or parking on a street.) I usually park at home in a driveway, so it depends where you live but I can see it slowly chipping away at the battery. You'd want to keep a close eye on the health of it so you don't get any surprises when you're in a rush.

      @@Ye-yz7cx Also depends on the weather and temperature as I just found out. I have the 57 and have always had the parking mode enabled. This was going well up until winter came around and the coldest of nights would come. Next morning I would find that my battery is dead! Battery is in good health or so I believe but after disconnecting the dash cam before I go to bed and wake up, car starts without hesitation. Weird thing to consider but at least for my cars, it doesn't discharge the battery to the point that it won't start in normal temps.

    How does a person get the video from the dash cam? Do you have to take out the sd card and download the video onto your laptop or can you easily access the video from your phone without ever removing the sd card from the camera?

      You can export to your phone via the smartphone app and Garmin Vault. You can also just transfer via the SD card via your computer.

      @@tsfmnlb I have the 67W. I used the Drive app to export videos directly to phone. The only videos that I couldn't export were Travelapse videos, I had to take out the MicroSD card for it.
      Also, the first 24 hours of Vault are free, only the extra days of storage cost.

    I didn't buy my 67W from you, but I am very disappointed with the video quality. There have been a number of happenings out on the road that needed reporting to the Police, but number plates cannot be read. They are just a pixellated mess in bright daytime conditions. The camera is set to 1440p, but the image is so compressed the footage would be useless as evidence. A good defence lawyer would be all over it like a rash! I definitely wouldn't recommend the 67W. Interestingly in your video, the 57 looks a lot better in terms of image quality.

    Why did you use the Dash Cam 67 in 30fps mode instead of 60?

      Shooting in 60fps on the 67W lowers the resolution to 1080p. 1080p coupled with the wide-angle lens for the 67w is a significant decrease to image fidelity.

    57 for the front, mini2 fir the rear, both powered off the garmin OBD port. Shame the download speeds using Drive app are so damn slow, and app connectivity a bit flaky.
