Growing up, I was personally taught by a guy who was trained by Hank Haney (Tiger's instructor when he was in his prime) Having said that, I think I know a thing or two about this golf swing. This video fails to address the proper rotation - that when you rotate, its imperative to rotate with your upper body, and resist with your lower body in order to create coil. Also their particular model has a flying right elbow, which leads to an "across the line" position at the top of the swing. They really didn't talk about the swing plane itself in this video. The swing plane includes width, depth, height, and many other factors.
This video is brilliant, is simple and if you do what he is doing you will have a lot of fun on the golf course. What you are saying is for A hcp (1 to 9) golfers or for people that needs distance, this video is clearly NOT for them....
This is one of the best video in my opinion I have seen that makes perfect sense with very good explanation and illustration. You take out the "how to swing like Tiger" and just put it plain and simple as " how to correctly swing a golf club appropriately". For a beginner, and those that have play for ages with no improvement..it's a gem.
No, you are not alone. I watched this video about 15 years a go, when i started playing golf. It is actually quite good video, but dont talk much arms and hands action 🤔
Even though there are variants of the swing out there, I thought this was one of the best short swing video I have seen. Any novice would benefit from watching this. I would bet that many 15+ would not be harmed either. Thanks for sharing.
Nothing like Tiger He takes the club back, winces through impact, drops the club after the finish, graps his back, gingerly picks up the tee, and calls for an official.
This is Amazing! Stewart Cink has been putting with a short putter since I personally gave him a Groove Master at the Players. Luke Donald and Justin Rose also have a Groove Master since the players. Look how well they have been doing.
Richard Strongert is my golf guru. I have learned a lot by looking at golf videos at videojug. I have downloaded them all with Richard Stongert, so I can watch them on my mobilphone. He is the best :-)
When your spraying the ball all over the course it is always good to go over all the basics in your mind, take a couple practice swings and you'll be suprised how these simple basics put you back on track again. Good video and should be review regularly.
It prevents you from flipping your wrist (something you should not do) but allow normal release (corrects fat shots) It shallows out your swing. Stewart Cink really started using the short putter after I gave him one.
just discovered this video wish I'd came across it sooner. Thanks for posting. It provides a great step by step check list for all the basic fundamentals of the golf swing. I'll certain be letting my two boys watch it, they are golf 'crazy'. I'm sure it will help them they are aged 5 and 4.
I was thinking this was some kind of Tiger joke but I noticed the date of the video is back from 2007. Thank god! Its actually a pretty good lesson video.
I just started to play some golf, im not a big fan, but it's fun sport, it can be relaxing, and good way to have fun. But im not that flexible, so i need to work out, and do more of the shooting to train my swing. Any tips from golfers here? Good way to start with out taking a lessons?
Okay groovemaster... It sounds like a usable device. I had an informercial on TV in the mid 1990's for two years and it sounds simular to my product and Greg Norman's product. Not that they are at all the same but the point is extremely close. I am scheduled to work with a certain Sweedish pro and he is in need of something to inhibit the smaller muscles from firing and promoting bigger muscle movement.
@JakeWood94 I think its both, i mean yuur arms are moving with the swing, but actually after you've finished the back swing to have to move your wrists.
Ok TigerEwoods, How would the groovemaster improve tigers swing? Can you give an example of what changes in the golf swing when you are wearing the device?
@gravitygolf well not as much damage as you think, but he does put a lot of torque on his front leg. that's how he's hurt his knee a lot, so that part could cause damage. but his swing is fairly normal beyond that.
Not a bad video for a beginner to watch to become familiar with the basic elements of the swing. The difficulty of the game will become apparent when you actually head out to the range or the golf course. Good luck.
Cool, this helps. I'm going golfing with my uncle at one of the top courses in the state...and i've only been to a driving range twice and i've only been on a course once 7 years ago...This is not going to end well.
I'm short and having trouble with following thru on my swing. I guess I'm using just my upper body and not following with my hips!?!?! Plus I keep my weight on right foot and have a hard time transferring my weight from right to left.any suggestions on how to fix or any suggestions on videos? thank you :)
I thought on your back swing you are not supposed to bend your left arm at the elbow, but stop at that point before and rotate your body, letting your body add more power to your swing. But I can clearly see him bending his left arm. Am I wrong on this?
I think this is what my problem may very well be in my golf swing. I feel my hips dont clear in time and i become flippy through impact which in turn make me feel very inconsistant and frustrated. Take a look at my golf swing guys and tell me if you agree. thanks.
im a beginner and i was taught to use the overlaping grip but my hands are small (im 5 ft 8 in and wear a youth large and can wear a adult small glove) should i use the baseball grip instead?
@Kingkev1155 youre absolutely right! i just started playing golf yesterday for the first time... though i miss some of my swings.. but after 75 swings on the drive, i stopped for the day.. and now my whole body is soring.. never thought golf is this physically demanding
Hey guys, just started golfing and a novice for the most part. My form isn't too bad, but a problem I have is in my downswing as I hit the ball, I jerk. Almost into a hop and wasn't something I noticed until I started filming myself. Any thoughts or ways to improve. I find if I concentrate too much, I slice or top the ball. Maybe it's just a beginner thing
@RealSkyDiver2 Golf, especially if played competitively, is a sport. Motor racing, which typically involves mainly sitting, is a sport - not entirely unlike horse racing, which involves letting the horse do the running. Activities like jogging or rock-climbing, which do involve physical exertion, but usually have no element of competition or fair-play, are also referred to as recreations. You might prefer to file the occasional round of golf under recreation rather than sport.
when i was 14(last year) i was hitting it 235 with a driver (long drives) average mayber 225 this year being a freshman on the golf team i hope to hit the ball 260 but i do not know, My personal teacher does a golf swing anaylsis at GolfTec and compared me for better or worse to tiger woods.....lots of differences....
your joking right. these videos are put a little comedy in them to make more fun. this guys golf swing is one the best i have seen. check out his newer videos, this and shawn clemets videos are the best instructionals on the net
aup guys im after some advice, i play off 11 and use taylormade r7 tp irons with rifle 6.0 shafts, my ball flight is not what im after, i have been told that there are some other shafts on the market to give me a lower ball flight with less spin. any advice would be great!!!
I keep on trying to do golf swings similar to this, but I just keep on hooking to the left and right and I always hit the bottom of the ball. Why is this happening?
If you are trying to improve your Golf swing, try the Groove Master. It utilizes resistance to quickly teach the proper techniques and create muscle memory. This speeds up the learning process and produces a perfect Full Swing, flawless Chipping technique and an extremely accurate Putting stroke.
I agree. The length is similar to that of a driver. Irons were meant for precision, not for length. If you look at any good PGA player, their backswing is about 3/4 length when in the fairway with an iron. Unless of course Tiger is in the rough and he decides to do one of those monster swings where clearly he goes back to parallel :D
The Groove Master helps Pros and Amateurs alike. I just got feedback from a Doctor who is now 25 yrds longer with both Driver and 3 wood because of the Groove Master. 25yrds!
different people bring their backswing farther back it just depends on the broadness of their shoulders, like I have pretty broad shoulders so my backswing is no where near as far as that, however my little brothers shoulders arent at all so his swing goes farther back
I agree with progolfer45628 because you should not have any head movement while swing until on the last part of the swing when you pivot onto the back foot. and your back shoulder comes under the chin and then rotate your neck with the back shoulder so you can see where the ball is going and plus when he has the wieght on the back leg a little he moves his head and you should keep your head very still and when moves to where he would hit the ball he kinda digged his chin into his chest a little
x 22 tour or nike vr split or taylor made tour burner irons? callaway ft 9 or nike dymo str8 fit sq^2 or taylormade r9 scotty cameron newport 2 or red x 5
hi, i was trying to get my boyfriend a golf club set but he confuses me when he tells me whats the best and i always forget. can anybody tell me whats the best putter, driver, wood, irons....please. i am desperate!!!!
@RealSkyDiver2 It doesn't seem easy to define what a sport is and definitions vary between languages (English isn't my mother tongue, but I'll try). In general, a sport is a typically competitive, organized or skillful physical activity that often follows certain rules and is carried out for entertainment or exercise rather than for a practical purpose.
Growing up, I was personally taught by a guy who was trained by Hank Haney (Tiger's instructor when he was in his prime)
Having said that, I think I know a thing or two about this golf swing. Golfingchange Good comment.
This video is brilliant, is simple and if you do what he is doing you will have a lot of fun on the golf course. What you are saying is for A hcp (1 to 9) golfers or for people that needs distance, this video is clearly NOT for them....
@@heyyoutootwice1 no it’s not it’s important basics to implement early on I mean why start with bad habits right
Resist with the lower body? Are you kidding me? That's a great way to have a bad back.
also really bad for your back!
It's been 15 years, am i alone?
You're not mate🫂
You're not 🫂
No, you are not alone. I watched this video about 15 years a go, when i started playing golf. It is actually quite good video, but dont talk much arms and hands action 🤔
I still can’t believe this video is almost 14 years old!
Old school.
Not bad, but setup is described incorrectly- you bend from the HIPS not the WAIST. Big difference there...
Even though there are variants of the swing out there, I thought this was one of the best short swing video I have seen. Any novice would benefit from watching this. I would bet that many 15+ would not be harmed either. Thanks for sharing.
Nothing like Tiger
He takes the club back, winces through impact, drops the club after the finish, graps his back, gingerly picks up the tee, and calls for an official.
This is very helpful, i like how clear it is. I tried using the "club to chest" move to align my shoulders, and it helped a lot.
There is no such a thing as perfect swing
i have just started playing golf; this is the best, basic, plain speaking english instructional video out there - many thanks
Just found out I've been gripping like a child with small hands/woman
This is Amazing! Stewart Cink has been putting with a short putter since I personally gave him a Groove Master at the Players. Luke Donald and Justin Rose also have a Groove Master since the players. Look how well they have been doing.
I watched this video last night and played my round of golf today and will admitt it had changed my game quite a bit!
Thank you! i gained somewhere around 10 strokes per game and my tee game has really improved with my new grip and swing
Richard Strongert is my golf guru. I have learned a lot by looking at golf videos at videojug. I have downloaded them all with Richard Stongert, so I can watch them on my mobilphone. He is the best :-)
@TheMiraclePoop hey i just got back from the course and the counting helped a ton i was hitting straight, even got a chip in thanks a lot
im still a newbie when it comes to golf and this video is really going to help me improve my swing and fix my mistakes
Very good video and good step by step instructions. He has a nice smooth swing, hips, hands, arms all come together at the proper time. Sweet!
When your spraying the ball all over the course it is always good to go over all the basics in your mind, take a couple practice swings and you'll be suprised how these simple basics put you back on track again. Good video and should be review regularly.
Many thanks for an excellent video for golf swing drill.
I have already done.
My golf swing is really improved than ever.
I started golfing in may of 09. and after watching this vid I improved my game 10 fold! the only thing I was hoping for was a frame by frame swing.
This is actually very informational for starting golfers. For more advanced golfers I suggest going to one of your local pros.
great video - a 9 minute intro to the golf swing...will be producing some more golf videos this year so this is something to aim for...
Makes perfect sinse. Does the device inhibit the release of the hands and the arms or does it allow the normal release to remain the same?
@cobrajohnny i just went to the driving range for the first time ever yesterday lol! im 24... hit a ball about 220 feet lol!
this was the best basic, how-to, for a beginner i could find...so far.
most on youtube are horrible.
Tiger has incredible rotation speed and arm acceleration along with great balance....highly developed skills over years of practice.
@MCBathtub I agree, but I'm a golf noob. Your suggestion allows the left thumb to drive the club down from the back swing and snap at the ball.
I'm going golfing this afternoon and this is really going help!
correction about types of grip, the first one is overlapping grip, and second one is interlock grip
I was thinking this was some kind of Tiger joke but I noticed the date of the video is back from 2007. Thank god! Its actually a pretty good lesson video.
@aikyp it isnt illegal during a tournament when ur on the tee but anywhere else it is :)
Excellent. I've had lots of paying lessons but this advice is really good and simple
I just started to play some golf, im not a big fan, but it's fun sport, it can be relaxing, and good way to have fun.
But im not that flexible, so i need to work out, and do more of the shooting to train my swing.
Any tips from golfers here? Good way to start with out taking a lessons?
I have a bad slice with my driver...hopefully these pointers help out. I golf tomorrow!
The brand is J.Lindenberg. Its a Swedish designer. A lot of Europe's tour pro's are endorsed by him, aswell as Camilo Villegas.
Wow~This video helps me A LOT!! I'm a beginner. Don't know how come I never hit the ball correctly. This really helps!! Thank you for sharing!
This really helps to show you how to golf. I liked it alot! It is definentally worth watching!!!
Was playing in a golf simulator yesterday for the first time. Thanks for the good tutorial.
Put this link in your bookmark toolbar, best 9min 6sec vid for golfers, to date.
@JakeWood94 I think its both, i mean yuur arms are moving with the swing, but actually after you've finished the back swing to have to move your wrists.
do the brand of your golf clubs affect how far and accurate the golf ball goes please help!
Ok TigerEwoods,
How would the groovemaster improve tigers swing? Can you give an example of what changes in the golf swing when you are wearing the device?
What should a person with knock knees know when positioning and rotation or does it matter?
@gravitygolf well not as much damage as you think, but he does put a lot of torque on his front leg. that's how he's hurt his knee a lot, so that part could cause damage. but his swing is fairly normal beyond that.
Not a bad video for a beginner to watch to become familiar with the basic elements of the swing. The difficulty of the game will become apparent when you actually head out to the range or the golf course. Good luck.
nice vid, jus bought a set of clubs and have been trying to find my swing, thanks for the tips
Cool, this helps. I'm going golfing with my uncle at one of the top courses in the state...and i've only been to a driving range twice and i've only been on a course once 7 years ago...This is not going to end well.

Plus I keep my weight on right foot and have a hard time transferring my weight from right to left.any suggestions on how to fix or any suggestions on videos? thank you :)
Great video. I have watched this video over and over and I think Im getting the hang of it.
This is just such a helpful video. I watch it from time to time to see what is wrong with my swing. Video=5*
Am I suppose to hit the ball like I'm chopping it or do I just let my upper body do all the work and my arms will follow?
3:14 is not the overlap grip, that is the interlocking grip. You correctly stated at 3:00 the Vardon or overlapping grip.
I thought on your back swing you are not supposed to bend your left arm at the elbow, but stop at that point before and rotate your body, letting your body add more power to your swing. But I can clearly see him bending his left arm. Am I wrong on this?
i dont know if this was mentioned but a good tip is to keep your right arm tight to your side..Correct me if im wrong please im also a rookie
richard plays at los naranjos, same as me.
i never had lessons from him but he is great guy.
The left thumb is straight down the shaft? I was always told different
Everyone has their own unique swing, but I think it comes down to how you distribute the momentum from the swing to the ball
@Kingkev1155 youre absolutely right! i just started playing golf yesterday for the first time... though i miss some of my swings.. but after 75 swings on the drive, i stopped for the day.. and now my whole body is soring.. never thought golf is this physically demanding
worked for me, i added about 50 - 70 yards per drive. thanks!
This video pretty good. Can you tell me if my swing can go on PGA tour?? Please rate my swing
Very good review of the key components of a golf swing.
@RealSkyDiver2

I've never felt so bored and yet so interested
now how do i determine how far i have to stand away from the ball?
when i was 14(last year) i was hitting it 235 with a driver (long drives) average mayber 225 this year being a freshman on the golf team i hope to hit the ball 260 but i do not know, My personal teacher does a golf swing anaylsis at GolfTec and compared me for better or worse to tiger woods.....lots of differences....
i new to golfing does it work with all clubs i noticed that he is using a wedge or iron
Small mistake: you labeled and referred to the interlocking grip as the overlapping grip instead. Love the video!
what kind of activity is gold exactly since its obviously not a sport?
your joking right.
these videos are put a little comedy in them to make more fun.
this guys golf swing is one the best i have seen.
check out his newer videos, this and shawn clemets videos are the best instructionals on the net
are u supposed to move your wrist when you swing or do you just move your arms
This improved my impact and I got a birdie on a par 4 and I'm 13 this vid does help
aup guys im after some advice, i play off 11 and use taylormade r7 tp irons with rifle 6.0 shafts, my ball flight is not what im after, i have been told that there are some other shafts on the market to give me a lower ball flight with less spin. any advice would be great!!!
is there a clip on how to swing a golf club like happy gilmore?
wow, what an awesome lesson that youy can play over and over again. Thanks to the peole who made it. Terrific.
@bboneDawg it isnt when ur on a tee but anywhere else it is
I keep on trying to do golf swings similar to this, but I just keep on hooking to the left and right and I always hit the bottom of the ball. Why is this happening?
@mrhondacivicsi should be exactly the same just left handed?

what kind of belt buckle is that and wrist band??? does anyone know
The Groove Master helps Pros and Amateurs alike. I just got feedback from a Doctor who is now 25 yrds longer with both Driver and 3 wood because of the Groove Master. 25yrds!
Are you suppose to initiate the swing with your body or your arm?
nice swing man. whats your handicap?
It is your favorite sport. But is it as fun as other sports?
This is what I'm looking for as a tutorial. Thank you for the information

hi, i was trying to get my boyfriend a golf club set but he confuses me when he tells me whats the best and i always forget. can anybody tell me whats the best putter, driver, wood, irons....please. i am desperate!!!!
His right leg doesn't remain flexed on his back swing which shows improper weight transfer and hip alignment.
@RealSkyDiver2
It doesn't seem easy to define what a sport is and definitions vary between languages (English isn't my mother tongue, but I'll try).
In general, a sport is a typically competitive, organized or skillful physical activity that often follows certain rules and is carried out for entertainment or exercise rather than for a practical purpose.
what iron is being used in this example?
