So, according to the information at the beginning, I'm actually am able to apply jailbreak to my iPhone X but how about downgrading?
I have the old ipsw file and something called Blobs that I ripped from the device before installing 16.5.
It's not my main device when it comes to that and I only used it for iMessage till last week, before I got a app membership approved that brings iMessage to my Galaxy S23 Ultra (my current daily). So, in other words the iPhone is only useful for me when I need to use FindMy app to find my parked car with a AirTag in it 😂

Good to see you back man! Although not entirely true for iOS 16-16.1.2 as well as some version of iOS 15 & 14 although 14 is pretty unstable I hear. We do have Cowabunga, Misaka, ControlConfig & many others with support for all devices. I mean it isn’t a full jailbreak but you’d be surprised just how much you can customise your iPhone already on the 1 exploit 😁👏🏻 I’m very content right now on 16.1.1 but looking forward to seeing if this jailbreak prediction of yours pans out.

Well palera1n requires a computer. Lots of tweaks need to be updated for rootless yet. So it’s totally up to you

I have ios 15.7.7 where i get jailbreak
My experience with rootless jailbreak is poor. Most tweaks I need aren’t updated for rootless. Happily, there is rootful jailbreak with palera1n. Now I am jailbroken on iOS 16.5 with the newest iPad (2018) (A10) that allows jailbreak while keeping the passcode. :-)

Does replacing my battery force me to update my phone? or can I safely replace battery and keep the jailbreak?
If you take it to apple I’m not sure. If you take it to a 3rd party repair they won’t. Just make sure you tell them you don’t want it updated.

No because once a new update is released, apple unsigns the previous update file, meaning that iTunes will just give you an error. There are other methods that might allow you to somehow have it self signed and redownload it, but other than that, no.
Btw there’s also the option for a rootful jailbreak upto 16.5 with the palera1n nightly builds

I wouldn’t recommend it. Tweaks are being updated for rootless. I’ll do a vid soonish

No sorry XS is newer and has a newer chip that isn’t vulnerable to checkm8 which palera1n uses

I only run movieboxpro, modded youtube & retroarch as sideloads on ipads.
On the jailbroken phone some tweaks to make ads disappear. Got an iphone 13 mini as well but its stock.
Ads are my biggest annoyance on phones. I’m also getting old, moving towards 40.

I’ve been jailbreaking sinds the first ipod touch came out. At some point iphone jailbreaking and at some point ipad jailbreaking. In the pas few yeqrs the community became so toxic allot the modders, jailbreak tool makers just quit. Also Apple adopting some tweaks like they invented those. It became so bad we have to rely on European law makers.
