  • Soda shop scene between George and Emily in Thornton Wilder's OUR TOWN. presented as a final performance by students at Drama Studio London - England ( www.dramastudio... ).
Production info: This production was cast, memorized, blocked, and all of the stage production (set design and construction, lighting, sound and full technical- and dress rehearsals) completed in 10 days. The run consisted of 4 performances (one matinee and one evening) on 2 consecutive days. In general, most full stage productions allow minimum of 3-weeks rehearsal with at least a month's run to fine-tune the show. I have added this information to emphasize that this was a high-quality, professional-level stage production that required a great deal of focus and effort for the graduating students to complete within a purposefully, challenging framework. Please try not to compare this performance to professional productions intended to be filmed for video release. This was a stage performance intended for an "in-house" audience, meaning the energy levels are purposely higher and may seem too "large" for a viewing on video.
~ directed by Peter Craze. featuring Natasha Younge (natashayounge.com) - as Emily:: Jonathan Maccia ( www.imdb.com/na... )- as George:: Allison Wottowa (www.allisonwott...) - as Stage Manager.

This is definitely my favorite version of this scene. I'm currently playing George, and I don't really like the way my director has me play him. I always thought George was a very lively, energetic kid who was just a bit oblivious, like your George. My director has me playing him as a borderline monotone moron :/
