From those very first brushstrokes, you bring such a deep, warm color to your portraits! And the expression you painted is so beautiful... Also, I feel the same about painting outdoors vs being in my comfort zone at my desk. The brushwork on that tree turned out amazing! Btw, those shots of your paint tubes and that beautiful wooden palette case (?) make me want to give oil painting another try just for the aesthetics (and of course the blurred edges and soft blending) ❤ your filming and editing is an art in itself.
This is such an amazing compliment, especially coming from you!! Thank you so much ❤️ And yes it’s so easy to remain in your comfort zone haha, especially when it comes to art, but it was so nice to try something else! And that pochade box makes me romanticize oil painting so much as well haha😅 I think the materials definitely help make the process more enjoyable 🫶🏻 thank you so much for your kind words and following along 💕
I've wrestled with what style of art I want to work my way towards, but after watching your videos I am able to say conclusively that I want to paint like you! Your work is always stunning. I absolutely adore your style, not only in art, but in fashion, décor, and video aesthetic as well. And you are not simply my favourite artist on RUclips, you are my favourite youtuber; I'm always keeping an eye out for your next video, and I sometimes re-watch your old ones. Thank you so much for your work and art! It is enjoyed, appreciated, and admired 😊
This is so incredibly kind and sweet, I am truly honored 🥹 thank you so so much for being here and following along. I can not describe how much this means to me❤️ I’m so happy to hear you enjoy everything so much and am truly grateful for your presence, thank you🫶🏻 I wish you all the best with your art journey as well, you’ll be able to paint whatever you wish 💕
Dankjewel🥹❤️
@@rachellejo thank you!! It absolutely did. I’ve been struggling with motivation lately to paint again and this helped me with the boost I needed, so thank you! 🌻❤️ Also, any recommendations on a good oil painting brush for blending colors after layering/blocking them down?
That’s amazing!! I will always recommend Rosemary & Co brushes, just because they’re the best I’ve tried so far. I personally love the Eclipse X-long Combers the most, but the Ivory ones also work well. They’re long and flat, which helps me the most with making beautiful brushstrokes to blend, or block in colors. But really any flat brush will already help you on your way. If you want to make some nice edges, sometimes using an old dry brush that is a little spikey (meaning it has lost its former shape) can work really nicely if you don’t want them to be too neat. This is just my opinion and what works for me, but I hope this can help you a bit ☺️ I wish you all the best with painting, thank you so much again 🫶🏻🩷
@@rachellejo 😮! Thank you so so much again, I appreciate you taking the time to explain more on this for me. You’re such a sweet soul and I keep these in mind! Happy painting as well, never stop! 🌻😃🎨
your atmosphere looks like a dream, I love the romantic 19th century aesthetic! sweet melancholy.. drawing from life is very useful, your paintings are very confident and realistic, the faces are delicate, they should be seen with pleasure, we share the palette and the colours. continuity with your life.. may art always accompany you🎨 a refuge from everything.
This is the sweetest comment 🥹 And so poetic! I’m so happy to hear you enjoy it so much. And yes, art truly serves as a refuge from reality, I hope I’ll get to continue it for the rest of my life ❤️ thank you for being here!
@@rachellejo thanks, i'm very happy that you answered me🌷 I will follow you with interest, your art will certanly inspire my painting🎨🤗 Best wishes for everything
I absolutely love your paintings! I’m also an oil painter and mainly do portraiture. I am trying to get better at skin tones. I was wondering if you use a limited palette for your skin tones? What colors do you use? Your skin tones are so beautiful and spot on!
Thank you so much!!🥹 I actually have all the colors I use listed in the video (around 13:12)! I use these all the time, especially for mixing skin tones🫶🏻
Hi Rachelle, I really enjoyed your video. The paintings look great. :-) I am fairly new at oil painting and still trying to find my way around them. There are four other great oil painting youtubers I have found as well, you are the fifth I will be subscribing to. Also, can you tell me the specific type of panel you paint on? I'm gonna try to get a few. In the future, if you can link all your painting supplies in the description that would be great. I had already purchased some paints but getting the right panel is what I'm not clear on. Blessings! ❤
Thank you so much, this is so kind!❤️ I’m so happy you enjoyed the video. I paint on either wooden panel or just a canvas board for studies! For bigger paintings/commissions I always paint on linen canvas. And yes I’ll try to link my art supplies in the next video!💗 I wish you all the best on your oil painting journey, thank you again for being here 🫶🏻
This is so kind ❤️ Trust me I still very much need to practice it more! I want to train my eyes to see the proper proportions without relying on a drawing all the time. But I still often do preliminary sketches or use drawings for reference! It definitely makes your painting more precise ☺️
anagram for "Cease" or "Stop the Pain" , directly taking my subconscious to "The Devil's Advocate" movie "He will make the pain dissapear" look I'd rather have Pain here and suffering than Eternal Pain in the Blazing Hellfire described by all the Prophets of the Lord. So no thank you but No Thanks. Peace Next
great video... I wish I could paint a tree... anyway I'll try it

how do you do that without even sketching with a pen first... what an insane level of talent
