The music filming was performed at The Reseda Country Club; we catered the 3 day event; got to meet all the performers, including Robert Plant, Hall and Oates, Poison (Michael got kicked off the show for bad behavior). What a great time this was! By the way, it was filmed in July and edited into the live ball drop show on 12-31-1988.

Is that Downtown Julie Brown interviewing CC and Roxy at 20:00? Also is there some kind of time paradox going on here? RATT and Robbin Crosby were in Japan with Bon Jovi for New Years going into 1989. I have video to prove it. So how is Robbin at this show? Only think I can think of is that this performance was pre-recorded. Something fishy going on here.
Japan is 17 hours ahead of LA, so theoretically Crosby could have jumped on a flight to LA right after the Japan gig ended, and arrived in LA the evening of Dec. 31. It would have been a crazy schedule though. More likely as you suggested one of the two events was prerecorded, probably the MTV event since it wasn't public. There is a post by Christopher Peltola that says the MTV filming was a 3 day event, so maybe Crosby shot his part a couple days before New Year's Eve and then flew to Japan.
