I’m a former marine of 16 yrs. FAST team and FRecon. I’ve contemplated joining these former Marines in this very nobel mission! The problem I have is just as when you’re in the military and in a combat zone, it’s just not smart to run these behind the lines (or extremely close to them) rescue, humanitarian etc...operations w/out a security element. I would love to come...but will only do so as part of an armed element...Legion or PMC, even just training others. I just will not be unarmed. I’ve been on the exact same end of tying to convince someone of leaving their home and pretty much all they know. It’s not an easy task at all. So I give the Marine attempting to help the family of 5-6 a lot of credit for his continued patience and great communication skills.These guys are a testament of compassion for what is usually deemed a lethal fighting force only! SEMPER FI
Я с Харькова. Когда началась война мы с дочкой сидели 12 дней в подвале. Ждали что будет лучше. До сих пор жалею , что сразу не уехали. То что было дальше, сдомало психику.Потом приняла решение. Надо уезжать. Я мать одиночка Денег вообще не было. Но я рискнула.Очень помогали волонтеры. Сейчас беженцы в Испании. Сейчас тоже не легко но лучше чем под бомбежкой.Люди часто цепляются за дом,но не помимают,что собой они его не заслонят.

I actually cried watching this video. The bravery of soldiers we read about every day but the bravery of the volunteers, translators, medics is phenomenal. So heartbreaking to see peaceful people forced into evacuating the home they’ve spent their life in.
I think this will be the overwhelming thing that comes out of this war... the stories of people like this, the millions of them. It's too much for any one person to comprehend, but we can see it after, we can empathise. Studying WW2 taught me a lot about life, how far people will go, how cruel people can be.... to see it being played out in real time is shocking, but there's also inspiration to be taken within all the madness.

Irishmen have served in the US Armed forces since the time of George Washington right up to the modern wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. No other nationals(obviously besides US nationals)have won more MOH in the US armed forces. Every war that America was involved in there was Irish. Irish at the Alamo,both sides in the US Civil War,Indian Plains Wars(over 30 Irishmen fell with Custer at the Little Big Horn),both World Wars. The guy at the start is Irish. Obviously Andy is American and ex US Marine. I made the mistake stating Andy was Irish(my bad) but the guy at the start is Irish. He has a soft Ulster accent like Liam Neeson.

What about the following 3 Irishmen who served in the US Marines who were awarded the MOH for bravery in China during the Boxer Rebellion in China 1900 and they are Marine James Cooney, Marine Joseph Killackey, Marine Martin Hunt. What about L/Cpl Patrick Gallagher from Ballyhaunis,Co.Mayo,Republic of Ireland. He was awarded the Navy Cross for bravery in Vietnam and was later KIA. There is plans to have a navy missile destroyer named after him the "USS Gallagher". Maybe this has happened already. I dont know if it has. I think there is about 18 Irishmen on the Vietnam Memorial and something like 2,000 Irishmen served in Vietnam. More recently there is Marine S/Sgt Liam Flynn from the Republic of Ireland who was deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan. He was awarded several medals including the Bronze Star. He was also a Marine Raider. Sadly he was killed in a training accident in 2015 in Florida.

I'm 58 and wouldn't want to leave my home, an 80 year old woman must be devastated by this madness. I have NO DOUBT that Ukraine will be victorious it's just infuriating that Putin will continue killing innocent ones sending troops to their deaths. Something good always comes out of these tragic stories, maybe Russians will see the truth and stand up to Putin and his regime. Maybe this will be the beginning of the end of tyranny in Russia, maybe. As Christians we know that The Lord doesn't want people to suffer. Look back at Hitler and his regime. That had to end and so does Putin and his cronies. I pray for the people suffering and the souls of those who lost their lives. They are heroes. I pray for the defenders, they are incredibly brave and have shown the world what real heroes are. President Zelenskiy is such a decent human being who genuinely cares about the people of his country. My Mother who is over 90 would be one of those ladies who refused to leave. She knows that she could go at any time and wants to die in her home. Nothing anyone would say to her would change her mind. Those that may end up at the mercy of the Wagner Group mercenaries is horrifying to me. Very little is known about Mozart's temperament but I love his music because it brings me joy and comfort. While they may not have chosen the name for themselves, it just happened, they should keep in mind that Mozart has brought joy and comfort to unknown numbers of people which is what they do on a daily basis. God bless them and aid them in their mission.

I think this will be the overwhelming thing that comes out of this war... the stories of people like this, the millions of them.
It's too much for any one person to comprehend, but we can see it after, we can empathise. Studying WW2 taught me a lot about life, how far people will go, how cruel people can be.... to see it being played out in real time is shocking, but there's also inspiration to be taken within all the madness.
Agreed Kevin, these stories allow us to appreciate the good souls (and heroes) in this war.

This is an amazing display of courage by the Irishman 'Dathan', both for his rescue efforts as well as articulating the reasons why citizens often resist his offers to evacuate them.

Irishmen have served in the US Armed forces since the time of George Washington right up to the modern wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. No other nationals(obviously besides US nationals)have won more MOH in the US armed forces. Every war that America was involved in there was Irish. Irish at the Alamo,both sides in the US Civil War,Indian Plains Wars(over 30 Irishmen fell with Custer at the Little Big Horn),both World Wars. The guy at the start is Irish. Obviously Andy is American and ex US Marine. I made the mistake stating Andy was Irish(my bad) but the guy at the start is Irish. He has a soft Ulster accent like Liam Neeson.

Please find and watch the movie "One Man's Hero".. true story of the Irish soliders that switched sides during the so called Mexican-American War due to bias and bigotry they faced due to them being Catholic ( almost all of Mexico is Catholic) . Of course it's Hollywood historical-fiction.. but at least it brought light to the " San Patricio" (Saint Patrick) battilion.

What about the following 3 Irishmen who served in the US Marines who were awarded the MOH for bravery in China during the Boxer Rebellion in China 1900 and they are Marine James Cooney, Marine Joseph Killackey, Marine Martin Hunt. What about L/Cpl Patrick Gallagher from Ballyhaunis,Co.Mayo,Republic of Ireland. He was awarded the Navy Cross for bravery in Vietnam and was later KIA. There is plans to have a navy missile destroyer named after him the "USS Gallagher". Maybe this has happened already. I dont know if it has. I think there is about 18 Irishmen on the Vietnam Memorial and something like 2,000 Irishmen served in Vietnam. More recently there is Marine S/Sgt Liam Flynn from the Republic of Ireland who was deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan. He was awarded several medals including the Bronze Star. He was also a Marine Raider. Sadly he was killed in a training accident in 2015 in Florida.

I can't even begin to imagine what these innocent people are going through. I don't know what I would do in their position. I'm 58 and wouldn't want to leave my home, an 80 year old woman must be devastated by this madness.
I have NO DOUBT that Ukraine will be victorious it's just infuriating that Putin will continue killing innocent ones sending troops to their deaths.
Something good always comes out of these tragic stories, maybe Russians will see the truth and stand up to Putin and his regime. Maybe this will be the beginning of the end of tyranny in Russia, maybe. As Christians we know that The Lord doesn't want people to suffer. Look back at Hitler and his regime. That had to end and so does Putin and his cronies. I pray for the people suffering and the souls of those who lost their lives. They are heroes. I pray for the defenders, they are incredibly brave and have shown the world what real heroes are. President Zelenskiy is such a decent human being who genuinely cares about the people of his country. He's on the front line with troops while Putler is in hiding
Putin is the laughing stock of the world.

My Mother who is over 90 would be one of those ladies who refused to leave. She knows that she could go at any time and wants to die in her home. Nothing anyone would say to her would change her mind. Those that may end up at the mercy of the Wagner Group mercenaries is horrifying to me. Very little is known about Mozart's temperament but I love his music because it brings me joy and comfort. While they may not have chosen the name for themselves, it just happened, they should keep in mind that Mozart has brought joy and comfort to unknown numbers of people which is what they do on a daily basis. God bless them and aid them in their mission.
