- '33 Factory Five Coupe - What does 1000hp do to a T56?
Jeff's personal Factory Five Hot Rod has been down for a while due to the transmission getting blown out last summer. It's finally time to slap in a new one just in time for race season, so today we're pulling apart the old one to check out the extent of the damage. This was rated for about 450hp, and the Coupe makes around 1000hp at the flywheel!

Thats why they put the gears in a box. It keeps the broken bits in.
I think I’m in love, what size is you shop?
This shop was around 30,000 including the adjacent paint shop, we've moved to a slightly smaller location but it fits our needs way better!
Surprised that light of a car is going through t56’s like that.
I tell Jeff (owner/builder) it was operator error 😅
It was fun while it lasted.
Looking forward to some Auto Cross videos.
Call her the metal confetti maker
😂😂😂
why did it break?
We actually expected it to break at some point - the engine made about twice the HP that the transmission was rated to handle.
@@TonyMaples i made 900whp with my '99 f body, and the stock t56 lasted for a year with sever abuse, maybe i got lucky. Any way love the truck, keep it up.
@@khaledster that's amazing, totally stock? We definitely abused this one quite a bit too. It recently was wrecked, so we're right in the middle of a rebuild now!
@@TonyMaples completely stock, broke everything else (driveshafts, rear ends, engine block) but never the trans. Took the constant abuse like a champ. Thought about going with the magnum t56 if mine broke but it never did.
@@khaledster Is there a carbon fiber drive shaft for this sort of horsepower and engine configuration? I'm a bit of a novice [sure you can tell]. :-)
