    An Arc/Fth build has always been my favorite build in ER, and prophet my favorite starting class. Super versatile caster with tons of spell power while not giving up much melee damage in return. The DC seal is just too good. Its the perfect build in my eyes. I usually build it with less mind and more endurance and faith.

    • @FrownyGaming
      @FrownyGaming  8 месяцев назад +4

      We can definitely take points from Mind and put them in Endurance. As for Faith, it's pretty min-maxed already. More points there won't really increase our incantations damage by much. Unless you were looking to meet the requirements of a specific incantations, I would keep Faith at 30. Thank you for comment.

    • @YeOldeMachine
      @YeOldeMachine 8 месяцев назад +3

      @FrownyGaming yeah, I agree that 30fth is all you need for damage. I just like to switch spell loadouts a lot and I enjoy some of the higher requirement spells.

    I’m so glad this video is here. Was going through the DLC on an NG+1 character and accidentally made it to the final boss super quickly but it was way too hard. I decided to cut that run short and was gonna start a new one based around dragon communion but was unsure where to start from so this video helps a lot.

    I appreciate your honesty at the end of the video-I recognize the good aspects of the build but I sometimes don’t get the “feel” of dragon communion spells the same way as sorceries. I might just be a stick in the mud.
    What I am doing now is playing through using certain weapons or concepts that feel fun. Like, I’m doing a dexterity build based on Casca from Berserk, using the Noble Slender Sword to capitalize on stance-breaking with the Square Off ash of war and playing without summons. I love the feel of being completely alone in the game except for a sword and shield and hitting a stance break has much more meaning.
    Another build I enjoyed earlier was a misbegotten build, starting with the iron cleaver and roars, charging headlong into battle. I never got far enough along to get the iron great sword, but it felt awesome to pressure enemies and run at full tilt into every combat and somehow come out of it okay. I often used every single flask and hit point of survivability to win the fight, but it was an accomplishment. That’s where I’m at for builds now.

      Forming builds based on weapons and character concepts is extremely fun. Trying out different weapons, even if they may not be a perfect fit to your style, really develops your skills as a player and gives a ton of new ideas. Thank you for your comment.

    In most pve cases I would agree with not using the named dragon incantations due to the fp efficiency, but I think if you ever do pvp/invasions or fight very agile bosses, having the better turning and tracking of the named variants will result in more damage due to being less likely to miss your target. (Plus some of them like Smarag's Glintstone Breath you can combo with terra magica on an int/fai build for a truckload of good tracking damage cone)

    • @FrownyGaming

      Smarag helped me dps spike the gargoyles. In ng+ im using the unamed breaths more. But in playthrough 1, named breaths helped do that little extra dmg against bosses.

    Another thing that pairs super well is a better bleed weapon. It can either be a normal weapon like a flameberge or godskinpeeler with Seppuku ash of war and the Occult variant. Or it can be a weapon like the Reduvia dagger that can shoot blood from range. Since you build super high Arcane since the Dragon seal has an S scaling it also makes the bleed effect stack super quickly on enemies. You can even have the White mask and the lord of bloods exultation talisman giving you a damage boost when bleed procs. Which you can proc yourself pre-fight with Seppuku.

    • @FrownyGaming
      @FrownyGaming  2 месяца назад +2

      Yes, you are correct. That being said, if we do this, the build gets turned into another general bleed build and loses all identity. I really don't like that. Every build I make goes for a theme and tries to stick to it. This helps fulfill the roleplay and it keeps the game fresh. Thank you for your comment.

    I love this build, in my case I tend to use less fp, I would modify this only if fromsoft fixes a bug with the erdsteel dagger, which strangely enough, if we put the blood/poison/occult affinity on that dagger, apparently doesn't take account the arcane scaling, if fromsoft fixes that, then the dagger would work perfectly with something like 40 dex, 30 fth, 45 arcane. With this is just enough for the scaling of the dragon communion seal and I would have basically something similar, but with a reduced cast time (obviously also a radagon icon), anyway, wonderful video and I honestly love this build

    Wow this is my exact build but with a 5 point difference between mind < endurance. Also to squeeze out more damage, I use the highland axe on my belt instead of the shield. Great build and video, keep them coming!

    • @FrownyGaming
      @FrownyGaming  6 месяцев назад

      I am not in a position to actively test this so, correct me if I’m wrong, but I remember that the Highland Axe does NOT affect Dragon Communion Incants.
      That said, even if it did, using the double Dragon Communion Seal set-up is better because the seal gives a 15% damage versus the Axe’s 10% increase.
      In any case, lowering Mind for more Endurance is a good change. It’s a sacrifice I would make as well if I needed for Equip Load.

      @@FrownyGaming Given the added endurance point, I guess there is an argument for the Highland Axe if the gentleman is also using roar based ashes of war on his main weapon.

    I usually end up running a "Dragon Alignment Build" basically this but I can also use the few items describing Dragons, and the Dragon Scale Sword (Ice Lightning sword the dragonkin drops) ends up being my usual main weapon, with a Morning Star set to Occult/Bleed depending on the area's enemies... I end up using the Radagon Icon instead of the Roar Medallion simply to fire off spells a bit faster, and have the Gravelstone seal in my right hand... but beyond that, well most of our bits are the same...

    I've been wanting to do a Faith type build but man watching your video has me thinking I could just go Arcane and use that dragon communion seal's arcane scaling instead of going heavy into faith and getting a seal that scales less. I'm not the biggest fan of the dragon spells (yet...mostly because I just don't know how to get them to work properly) but I'm thinking I could even use pyro, lightning, black flame, everything faith offers plus you have the status effect when it comes to melee that arcane can give. Damn this build looks fun.

    love the to see more arc faith build, using morning star too which is my personal favorite from the hammer class. still i think this build are better off with arcane weapon that deal split physical and elemental damage like rob, mohg spear, morgott sword, and eleonora poleblade since they wont receive nerfed physical weapon ar as harshly as their pure physical counterpart like bloody helice or blood poison and occult affinity weapons due the silver tear mask debuff

      This is a good point and I believe that you are correct. Those Arcane weapons require a larger investment into their requirements, so I would lower Mind to fit them in. Sure thing. It's possible. With this build, you will have to make some changes. The Uchi has 11 STR, 15 DEX requirements in Elden Ring so you are going to need to take one point from Strenght, and four from Mind, and put the all into Dexterity. Arc/fth is how I got my platinum. I was playing fth/?? until the valiant gargoyles... then I looked into dragon communion seal and smarags Glintstone breath... I never looked back. No respec compared for my prophet. Only need 45 arc / 30 fth / 50 vig/ 38 mind in my experience.

      45 ARC / 30 FTH / 38 MND is the skeleton of the build. After this, you can level Endurance, Vigor and weapon requirement Stats as you wish. I chose to keep Endurance low and go for more Arcane for additional melee scaling. Also, a little bit more Mind can't hurt. It is a very good build. I am glad that you found success with it. Thank you for your comment.

      @@FrownyGaming yeah, I kept end, str, and dex pretty low to pump vigor at 150. Plenty of decent weapon setups at lightweight. I tended towards shamshir and off hand med shield / sg curved sword at the end. But I occasionally would go back to short spear with blood tax... and the morning star for enemies weak to strike.
      That said, I still need to spend sometime with twin blades, reapers, whips, great swords, colossal weapons on another build to see how I like them. Didn't use them much on my 1st playthrough.

    im trying to build something similar right now. but its mostly a pyromancer. thinking 168 60/45 arc/fai with DC seal and fire giant seal on the offhand for giantsflame buff. my spells would be like dragonclaw, dragonmaw/greyolls, take thee, oflame, catch flame, give me strength. for melee right now i just have a bleed longsword that i might switch to occult, with some multi-hit weapon art. talismans im thinking godfrey icon/stalwart horn charm, rad icon, flock's, and millicents. this is to buff damage, maximize effectiveness of hyperarmor, and get casting speed maxed out

    I get picking lands between rune as the keepsake but if you pick stonesword key you can get dragon communion seal at the start of the game, then go khalid to kill greyoll, 5 hearts and a lot of level up immedietly Greyoll will take a lot of time to kill, unless you use bleed and theres a grace right behind her, so grab torrent run to that grace activate it, grab a bleed weapon go back kill greyoll
    no where near a "better option" keepsakes are keepsakes just saying it's an option if ya'll want to be able to get your dragon seal early, the dungeon is a pain but doable just take your time i ran through on another character had someone trade the seal to the prophet character, then had the prophet character run through two seals right before you've left the starting area
    Great build, ran a dragon samurai build round bleed and dragon spells on my first ever playthrough when the game came out had heard they'd been nerfed into the ground but this build has restored my faith (and arcane) in the build it's perfect having two catalysts to, as my ds3 main character was a two pyromancy flame pyromancer so can stick to what I know, again great video

      @@FrownyGaming hey man I get the cleric theme but I just got put on to a cool weapon while playing that boosts roars Highland axe it seems weaker due to lack of bleed but it can be occult infused and to my knowledge stacks with roar medallion pushing greyolls and the roar Ash of war even further beyond sharing it because I wanted your thoughts on using it as a boost item and so people know about it you get it in stormviel castle it can be infused and has the same requirements as morningstar

    • @FrownyGaming
      @FrownyGaming  5 месяцев назад +1

      The Highland Axe is a good weapon, but it is weaker than a double seal set-up. The Dragon Communion Seal gives us a 15% damage boost to all Dragon Communion Incantations. On the other hand, the Highland Axe gives a 10% boost to all Roar-Type abilities. So...
      Two seals is 1.15 x 1.15 = 1.3225 ~ 32% damage boost
      One seal and Highland Axe = 1.15 x 1.10 = 1.265 ~ 26% damage boost
      The biggest source of damage for this build are the Dragon Communion Incantations, so I am more interested in optimizing their damage. When I cast, I bring out the double seal to increase the incantation damage the the fullest.

    I'm working on this build in a fresh playthrough as we speak. Quick question, what's the best way to get the dragon hearts needed to get all the incantations?

    • @FrownyGaming
      @FrownyGaming  7 месяцев назад

      Well... having to defeat the dragons is definitely complicated at low level. What I did is beat Agheel over at Limgrave, seeing as how he is the easiest dragon fight. Afterwards I went to Dragonbarrow and sliced Greyoll's tail for 10 minutes with Poison and Bleed. That gets you 4 hearts which is enough for the basic breaths to a combination of breaths and maw/claw. This is enough to get you going while you naturally get more hearts by progressing through the game. Thank you for your comment.

      Absolutely. You can get the Dragon Communion Seal and the basic Dragon Communion Incantation very early game. The same goes for the Bloody Slash Ash of War. I had a relatively comfortable early game while playing with this build. Thank you for your comment.

    • @FrownyGaming
      @FrownyGaming  Месяц назад +1

      In this particularly build, since we are focusing on Dragon Communion Incantations, it is more efficient to run two Dragon Communion Seals (one in each hand). The reason is because the seals give a 15% boost to the Dragon Communion Incantations. Meanwhile, the Highland Axe offers only a 10% boost to roars. This is why I chose to not use it in this build. Thank you for your comment.

    is there a reason you went to 30/60 for faith/arcane? the difference between 30/60 and 28/45 is only 17 incant scaling or a 6% increase in damage which really doesn't seem worth it for 17 levels worth of stats

    • @FrownyGaming
      @FrownyGaming  6 месяцев назад +1

      There is. It is an accumulation of smaller reason that made me decide to heavily invest in this spread. First of all, I already have the rest of my Stats in order. I have 60 Vigor. I have what I need for weapon requirements and I have the perfect Endurance to stay right under 70%. As for Mind, I am very comfortable at this level for a full caster. As such, I decided to focus on the damage Stats.
      30/60 FTH/ARC gives fantastic Incantation Scaling that scales well with all of the damage-boosting elements. Then, it also increases the physical damage of the Occult weapon, which helps to offset the 5% penalty from the Silver Tear Mask. At 60 ARC, I also hit the second Soft Cap for status application which, admittedly, is not much, but it adds up.
      You can certainly invest these extra levels in other damage stats in order to use different weapons. Or put them into Endurance to use heavier armor. But as far as this build goes? I knew that I needed very little investment for the gear that I wanted. Thank you for your comment.

      For this build, the Physick is not important. You can use whatever you want. Personally, I chose the one that gives you more damage negation and the one that gives you more HP. But you can also choose to use one of the elemental ones to boost your damage, or the one that negates FP spending for a few seconds. Definitely experiment to see what works best for your. @@FrownyGaming I think the named dragon breath attacks are better for some bosses. While the normal ones are way better when traversal a level fighting normal enemies, since you need to conserve FP until the next site of grace. You can also do the mixed physics flask to gain magic power and unlimited FP for a short time. Giving you atleast one free breath attack against a boss, and if it's free the extra 50% FP does not matter and getting a damage boost is nice. Also jumpin in the air while doing it can let you avoid damage and it looks badass.
