Please read this comment if you are getting the error: The operation select list item cannot accept the arguments: , ["not found"], [1]
This error usually comes if the responseContent returned by GPT servers is unexpected. There can be a few reasons for it:
1. Holding the speak button down while speaking. Don't hold it down. Just press it once and start speaking.
2. API key has not been entered properly. Make sure that you provide a valid API key after the word BEARER and a space. Don't remove the word BEARER.
2. Second problem could be that you have used up all the free credits of GPT. However, this problem comes only after the app has been working fine for a while and starts giving this error once all the free credits have been used up.
To find the actual problem, add a notifier from the user interface in the designer view. Now, in the blocks section, use the notifier to show alert with the responseContent it. Do this inside the web1.gotText event. Make sure that this is the first thing you do inside the web1.gotText event.

This exercise is very interesting, unfortunately I encountered a problem which I believe is very important. Normally, chatgpt has a short-term memory, in the sense, if I tell it: -remember to call me Antonio- chat gpt says -sure- and if you ask it -what do you call me- it responds -you told me to call you Antonio-. However, in this App Inventor exercise every time you speak it starts from 0 and this makes the conversations totally decontextualized. Is there a way to solve this
I will look into the API call to see if this is possible.

at the time of entering API key should we use bearer word in caps or in this way Bearer
Bearer and not in caps. eg. Bearer 9284983349

It seems that it works when i connect the app with app companion but when I install the app, it doesn´t work. When I press the button don´t make the sound and don´t proccess the input, but if i try with app companion without installation, it seems to work. Any idea? and thanks so much for your help!
Yes, this problem has been mentioned at 13:47 of this video that as we are using the continuous speech recognition extension, we need to edit the APK file before installing it on the latest versions of Android. The process has been explained in detail in a previous chatbot tutorial that used an older version of GPT. I have given the link and exact time to start watching that video in this video description but I will give it here again for your convenience.

Perfect! However, I have some doubts: If I purchase a paid API and publish it on Google Play: 1) Will the use of the API by users who download the APP be carried out by me, that is, will my API be used? - 2) Will I be able to charge for the APP?
1) yes, your account will be used unless you ask users to generate an api key and enter it when app starts which might be a complicated process for many users 2) you will definitely need to make it a paid app or add an in-app purchase after some usage so that you have funds to replenish the credits for api.

I figured it out. Where the API key is located I have to keep the word Bearer and then include the API key.

hI! The server of the speech recognizer extension isnt responding that's why I cannot log in and the download the file. Are there any alternatives?

Are you getting an error? please see pinned comment for resolution of errors. Make sure that you press the speak button and then, lift your finger off the button and then speak.

How can I add a loader gif while gpt is processing to answer my question, I know how to add gif in mit app inventor, but in those blocks where to add a loader gif so i can see a loader until GPT is processing to answer my question
change the secondwebviewer's url to loader gif first thing in the procedure sendtoChatGPT and make it invisible first thing in web's gotText event.
the free credit did not last while testing the app :) I have to wait next month , Can you also make another chatgpt alternative which is not limited use but still uses the same tech as openai chatgpt?

Mine doesn't run on the companion app, any solutions?
Are you using android or iPhone? It will not work for iPhone even if you are using companion app. Also, make sure to give microphone permission when the app is started. If that still doesn't work, check that you have provided your API key properly. Don't remove the word bearer, just copy paste your API key in place of the word YOUR_API_KEY.

It is the last component in user interface palette below the time picker component. Refresh your browser if you cannot see all components inside user interface palette.

@@crazyboyrish2577 Oh! I just figured out your issue. They have recently introduced this dialog which opens up when you start a new project. You have to choose Expert in Toolkit dropdown to see all components.

You need to pay for gpt 4. I have never tried gpt 4 so I don’t know if it will work for it.
Oh yeah i use ur code for this and i think i follow it quite nicely but idk what happen after i push the talk button the screen turn to 404 error and the air can't get another task after the first one without it stop talking. Do you know what happen there?

You have to make the app yourself using MIT App Inventor. This is a full tutorial but you can also download the aia file for the project and insert your OpenAI api key and install it on your devices.
Why can't i use the apk editor? I use you project. Aia still cannot open it
You have to open the aia file in mit app inventor. Then, generate apk and then open the apk file in app inventor.
Also, I haven’t shared aia file of this project but only the blocks that are needed. You have to make the project yourself by following the tutorial and use the blocks inside the code section of your own project. Then, make your apk and edit it using apk editor.

You have to use notifier to see what is being returned by chatgpt server. So, Inside your web1.gotText event, before doing anything else, first use notifier.showAlert (responseContent) to see what is being returned by server.

@ObsidianSoftEducation Hello. I tried running your code and nothing happens. All the code is correct and I am sure. The API token is put in as "Bearer sk-SPgWS6h...". When I hold down the speak button there is no indicator sound like the sound when Google Assistant initializes. I checked the API key usage on the OpenAI website and it says the key has never been used. By the way, I took out the robot animation parts.
Are you using the app after installing it or are you testing it using the companion app? If you are installing it then you need to edit the apk using apk editor to make the google speech extension work. The apk editing part has been covered in a previous tutorial.
Also, when you are using the speech recognizer extension without the Google speeech dialog, there is no indicator sound if you have muted it so just press the speak button and say something.

@@pexigno This is definitely strange as this error comes after some usage of the app! Try generating another key for the same account and if that doesn't work, make a new Open AI account.
