The first described here is our son. He cut us off/went dark 4 years ago. Whilst hurtful and I do worry about him, I also know he is disruptive. He would cause havoc at Christmas for many a year. Lose his cool and become verbally abusive, find something wrong with something we had done or hadn't done. One year we went to his home for Christmas all was going well till the morning after and once again he was abusive and kicked us out. We had no vehicle and had to walk a long way. He kept all our belongings and refused to give them back. Then no contact. He has never given us the courtesy of telling us what we did wrong or to have an adult conversation to try and address his upset. Upshot I don't want someone in my life, as much as we love him, who is not only disruptive but scary for us in our old age. We should have his support at this time not his angst.
Yes, I just had to part ways with a manipulator. She was becoming almost a stalker She wouldn't respect my boundaries and made me feel guilty for setting them.
