Another awesome repair job, D-Man. You obviously spent a painstaking number of hours to rescue the engine bay, but in the end, it’s completely worth it as you’ve given the whole car a new lease on life. It’s awesome to see you go to such lengths to repair the vehicle and I completely understand why. In situations like this, 9 times out of 10, the owner would just scrap the car, but you’ve put so much time, money, and effort to make this vehicle strong, safe, reliable, and for your own specific purposes. Due to all your custom suspension work, your Forester can do things and go places which other standard versions cannot. I’m sure you have some definitive plans on how you’ll use the vehicle well into the future. I look forward to seeing future videos of you taking it out on the trails and exploring the Canadian wilderness. Keep up the great work!

I have been pushing to complete the short list of things to do so I can enjoy using it this year. The last job I worked the entire year to have a vacation and got canned before I took one. So before putting myself through that again, I need this rig complete so I can take off for the weekends instead of being stuck in my garage trying to finish it at the end of August.

Loving each update on this badboy, a continued inspiration to keep going with my own works! Personally, I hate how "disposable" society has become, especially towards vehicles so maintaining, restoring and giving these work horses new life is one way we can make a difference!

Everyone thinks they do their part to save the planet. What they don't realize is when they buy a new vehicle, that vehicle was essentially created for them. All of the time, materials, research and basically energy goes into something they can just spend money on. How convenient. A few years pass by and that vehicle gets dirty... just throw it away and buy another if you have the money. No one is going to say anything except "congratulations on your new truck".
In reality, these are the types of people that I have lost all respect for. They are the ultimate consumer and the industry hunts after them like ducks. Surely I can be finger pointed for small consumerism myself BUT I'm not driving a one ton truck to go buy some groceries and then trading in because I like the headlights on the redesigned model. I can't blame people for doing it, the industry and government allows them to and they don't know any better. I could go way deeper but I will stop there ;)

@@HomebrewSubaruhah man this made my evening, couldnt have said it better myself. Here in the UK, normal folks are getting punitive taxes for running older conventional cars (my Impreza has £700 a year tax), the current social engineering is pushing anyhting not "electric" into the realms of the socially unacceptble.
Even all the electric cars have a stupid Green mark on the licence plate, like they are better for the environment than normal cars.
There's no sense of maintaining and recycling what is already built - you are expected to pay crazy money to get something new and "green", and fail to mention the crazy amount of resources that it takes to make the new cars!

The entire topic gets very complex. I don't think many people are aware of what a driving future looks like. I know where the automotive industry is headed and have for over a year now. People looked at me like a crazy person for things I said. That is up until more recently when major podcasters have started touching on the subject, saying the exact same thing I did. I am probably going to have to make a video about this now. I'm sure many others have already but much of the information is not readily available.

You rock! Love the video. You've given me more faith on my 03 Forester XS. I just got the motor running smoothly, I might add. After the 04 Forester S sat for 10+ years!!!🎉. I'll be top viewer from this day Forward.

My Forester is fairly rebuilt at this point. The playlist ruclips.net/p/PLWbrtSgFmtynR3-mhvgP7vtMc6JC_Aqrx will have most of what you're interested in. There will be the odd repair and upgrade to do as time goes on. I've been daily driving it and going on plenty of camping trips. Thanks for the comment, keep that old Forester alive!

Thanks man. I want the Forester to last another 5-10 years and I think this repair will get me in that range.

Just put UEL headers on my 05 outback yesterday, had to cut the bolts from the manifold to the cat pipe haha they would not move.

When I had to switch out the UEL NA style header from the Impreza to a WRX style header, I knew exactly what to do with the one that came out. I will start with it and work my way back later on.
