    you have the seat belt in the lower position, raise it up, the closer the neck it sits the safer it is, if
    you have it too low then the risk is that it slides off your shoulder during an accident, and then it
    can hurt you instead

    I’m in the process of relocating from Indiana to Oregon, I and to go to Oregon for business purposes and the flight prices were insane so I made the 2,300 mile drive.. It was nice having all the alone time in the car but it was exhausting. I used to make this drive with my kids all the time. When my kids turned 16, we always just took turns driving straight through and never stopped at hotels.

    We’re going from central Florida to San Diego California so happy I found your you tube I hope it helps . I know the first time we took a cross-country trip we didn’t have the dogs and we stayed in New Orleans the French quarter it was amazing I’m gonna look for a hotel that will let us take the dogs there too you have to go those places are like 300 years old or something like super old super fun and Texas has caves that you can go in there like 2 miles deep so much fun San Antonio Texas has a Riverwalk and you can rent scooters White Sands is an amazing place it’s just right off the major highway and then you can either rent or buy a saucer go up to the top of the sand and slide down. And of course the Grand Canyon we were almost to San Diego and then we saw the sign for the Grand Canyon and we were like we have to go we stayed in the cabins up there and they gave us a little toy on our bed it was adorable for the kids they might do that for a dog! We have German Shepherd’s is there a weight limit at these hotels?

    • @travelpockets
      @travelpockets  3 года назад +1

      Yay! So happy you found our channel too :) Sounds like you had quite the cross country adventure yourself! I wanted to stop by White Sands on of my trips, but I was on a time limit, so didn't make it, but I'll make it happen one day. There are some hotels that have weight limits and breed restrictions, so I would make sure to check with each hotel you stay at because they all have different rules. Safe travels!!

    Where did your love to drive cross country come from? I saw your video by accident because I'm moving to Phoenix for a new career from Florida by myself, so I'm dreading the drive, what are your tips for long distance driving? is it your car or a rental?

    • @travelpockets

      I just love road trips in general but when I did my first cross-country road trip, I just loved the adventure of it. It's also very therapeutic for me. Congrats on your new career! As far as tips, downloading the iExit app is super helpful as it gives you detailed exit information while driving on the interstate. Downloading your podcasts (and music) ahead of time will be great too; especially series podcasts that you can get sucked into. I am driving my own car - 2018 Ford Escape.

    I love watching your road trip videos! Especially for the Interstate 10 corridor since that's the part of the country I'm most familiar with. I actually did the drive along Interstate 10 from Texas to California in December 2020, just a month after this drive of yours! I was in the same boat when it came to El Paso: I was thinking of staying overnight there but then I learned about all the covid cases and decided not to. I originally was going to stop at Van Horn like you did but I didn't make it that far so I stopped at Fort Stockton instead (which I think you stopped at on a previous trip?). I didn't use an app on this road trip, but on the way back, I found a great app called iExit. It'll give you all the details on gas stations, rest areas, restaurants, lodging and more. It's a great app for road trips! iexitapp.com/

    Silly question, but did you take your pup with you when you had to use the restroom?

    • @travelpockets
      @travelpockets  3 года назад +1

      Not a silly question at all! I actually get this question asked a lot. I leave my dog in the car while I use the restroom. I usually park in a shaded spot (almost always at the gas station) and use the restroom quickly.

      Not sure how much gas I consumed, but I filled up 12 times in my Ford Escape. I go into a little more detail in this post: www.thetravelpockets.com/new-blog/ultimate-guide-to-a-solo-cross-country-road-trip-with-your-dog

    I'm going from Nebraska to California 😱🤪 how long would I take if I only stop to put gas & maybe sleep like in rest area like an hour or something?😜🤫

    • @travelpockets

      That'll probably take 2-3 days. 2 days if you really push it and drive 12-14 hours each day. Safe travels!!

    I have a big question what do they ask for when your entering California? ID? License plates tags?

    • @travelpockets
      @travelpockets  2 года назад +1

      They don't ask me anything. I just approach slowly and they do a quick glance and wave you on by.

      When I moved to California in 2011....they stopped us at the border to check our trailer. They were making sure we weren't transporting live stock.

    What’s the song at the end ? The whistle song

    • @travelpockets
      @travelpockets  3 года назад

      It's stock music from Artlist.com - I'd have to go back to the project file and see what it was called. I'm not sure if I have that file with me now, but if you're still interested in the title of the song, just let me know and I'll try to find it later :)
